Triple O sentenced for SIUE threat

Olutosin O. Oduwole

Former Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville student sentenced to 5 years in threat case:

The man I refer to as Triple O is 26-year-old Olutosin O. Oduwole. He was arrested back in 2007 when police found a note in his car on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville that threatened an attack on a school, presumably SIUE. Again, here is the contents of the note…

“if this account doesn’t reach $50,000 in the next seven days, then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!”

Of course VT is in reference to the infamous Virginia Tech shootings.

Oduwole was also found to be in possession of a gun at his dorm and tried to purchase another gun while lying about his impending trial.

Back in October he was convicted for threatening a school shooting, last week he was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

DC Comics The New 52: Week 15

Some improvements such as Catwoman. Others not so much like Red Hood. I don’t know why they decided to have Red Hood fight mystical creatures instead of regular criminal scum.

My main complaint this week is Captain Atom. It seems that DC is turning Captain Atom mystical creatures instead of regular criminal scum.

My main complaint this week is Captain Atom. It seems that DC is turning Captain Atom into Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen. Yes, I know that Dr. Manhattan was based on Captain Atom originally. But now it seems like DC is ripping itself off. Or should I say ripping off Alan Moore.

Comic of Last Week: Batman Inc.:Leviathan Strikes

This wasn’t the most well written Batman story ever but the reason I picked this as my comic of the week because it takes place prior to The New 52. It has Stephanie Brown as Batgirl and Tim Drake in the original Red Robin costume. That gives me hope that we’ll hopefully see other stories from the old DC Universe.

1200 letters in support of a child killer

Hannah Overton

Family and Friends Fight for New Overton Trial:

I’ve posted about Hannah Overton many times before. She was convicted in 2007 for the sodium poisoning and blunt force trauma death of 4-year-old Andrew Burd. Andrew was her foster son who the Overton’s were looking to adopt.

Since Overton belongs to a fundamentalist Christian church a ‘Free Hannah’ movement has been trying to get her conviction overturned because they say that she is a ‘good Christian woman’. I was raised that good Christian women don’t kill their children but I digress.

Churches can be like families in both good ways and bad. Much like the family of abusers that we see on BB that defend child killers because they’re family, Overton’s church has circled the wagons around her instead of realizing that she’s a killer. For example, recently 1200 letters requesting a new hearing for Overton were sent to the district attorney’s office.

You know why you won’t see 1200 letters being sent in support of her conviction? Because most rational thinking people know that she deserved her conviction and don’t feel the need to write since she’s already serving a life sentence.

If you want to prove me wrong you can send a letter to…

BB featured on BlogHer

Thanks to Deena’s excellent write-up on Andre Curry, the asshat who allegedly duct taped his baby and posted in on Facebook, Bad Breeders was recently featured on BlogHer.

For those of you not familiar with BlogHer it is the largest network of female bloggers on the internet. So this is a pretty big deal.

Congratulations and thank you Deena.

craigslist child trafficker sentenced in San Diego

Sex trafficker gets 30 years in prison:

41-year-old Maurice Lerome Smith was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for prostituting a 17-year-old girl on craigslist.

The victim asked Smith for a job in his window washing company. Instead she was being forced to turn tricks on craigslist with a $1200 a day quota.

Smith previously served only a mere four years for previously trying to abduct a 13-year-old girl to force her into prostitution.

Again, how’s that consenting adult myth working out?

Woman was forced to watch torture and murder of Carina Saunders

Carina Saunders

Man held in Carina Saunders case:

I originally posted about the brutal murder of Carina Saunders here. She was the 19-year-old girl from Bethany, Oklahoma whose decapitated and dismembered body was found in a duffel bag behind a grocery store in October. Originally investigators thought that she may have been killed by a couple of Juggalos. It turns out that it was something terrifyingly more sinister.

33-year-old Jimmy Lee Massey has been charged with Carina’s murder. He allegedly tortured and killed Carina to prove a point to someone else. Investigators say that Massey was involved with a drug and prostitution ring. They also say that Massey and 31-year-old Francisco Gomez grabbed a woman off the street, blindfolded her and made her watch the torture and death of Carina. The woman was told that if she didn’t cooperate with Massey’s prostitution ring that the same thing would happen to her.

And yet some people say that prostitution is a victimless crime. I would imagine that the friends and family of Carina Saunders would disagree.

Oklahoma does have the death penalty unfortunately the preferred method of execution is not a rusty wood chipper.

E.O. Green shooter sentenced

Brandon McInerney

California teen gets 21 years for killing gay student:

In 2008 a then 14-year-old Brandon McInerney shot a then 15-year-old Lawrence King in the back of the head within the halls of E.O. Green Junior High. King was an openly gay student who liked to wear women’s clothes. I’ve seen reports that say that King would mockingly hit on McInerney to combat the bullying from him. I’ve also read reports that said King had a crush on him. Neither of which are reasons for shooting another person in the back of the head at near point-blank rage.

Anyway today McInerney was sentenced to 21 years in prison after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors after a mistrial.

Now before you start twisting your pearls and blubber into your kleenex over McInerney let’s not forget that the punk was a white supremacist and obvious homophobe. He deserves more than 21 years if you ask me but it is what it is.

What really gets me about this story is the father of Lawrence King. He threw his son out of the house for being gay. Not only is he suing the school but he had this to say about his son at McInerney’s sentencing hearing…

“I will never forgive you for what you did,” she wrote. “You have left a big hole in my heart where Larry was.”

Considering his previous attitude towards his own son and the lawsuit I would say that the hole is more than likely in his wallet rather than his heart.

News of Doom: Woman set on fire in New York elevator

Jerome Isaac

Police: Arrest made in New York elevator burning death:

Jerome Isaac held without bail in Brooklyn elevator torching of Deloris Gillespie:

I can’t think of a more horrific way to die then being set on fire. I mean between the smoke inhalation and the intense heat boiling off your skin you would think that such a horrible death would be reserved for the most vile of people. Unfortunately this past weekend it was the way a kindly woman was killed.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the video or read the articles by now but just to recap Deloris Gillespie was murdered in the elevator of her Brooklyn apartment building when 47-year-old Jerome Isaac set her on fire. Dressed as an exterminator Issac waited outside the elevator door and when Ms. Gillespie came to her floor Isaac is said to have doused her in a flammable liquid then set her on fire. Apparently the rate of burn wasn’t to his liking so he then lit a Molotov cocktail and threw it into the elevator. This was all done because Isaac felt that Ms. Gillespie owed him $2000 for work that he had supposedly done on her apartment. Her family said that before her murder Isaac was leaving threatening notes for her but that she couldn’t file a restraining order because she didn’t know his last name.

Of course it seems that it’s just the good among us that meet horrible ends like this as neighbors say that Ms. Gillespie was well-loved in her neighborhood. Isaac on the other hand is currently being held without bail and still has his unfortunate life. No death penalty for him since New York no longer has it.

What ‘they’ should do is they should take Isaac to the top floor of the Empire State Building, put him in the elevator, set him on fire then cut the elevator cables. They they can see what killed him first, the fire or the fall.

DC Comics The New 52: Week 14

More of the same this past week. Just not a whole lot holding my interest. However there is something I would like to discuss.

In Batwoman #4 there was lesbian love scene between Kate Kane and Maggie Sawyer. It wasn’t graphic. I wasn’t offended by it. As usual I just found it unnecessary and only there to cater to the Axe crowd. If these were two gay male characters the scene would have never seen the light of day.
