Megan Kanka

Megan Kanka

Megan’s Law mom ponders daughter’s legacy:

Ten years ago today Megan Kanka was killed. In case you don’t know who Megan was she is the little girl who Megan’s Law was named for. She would be 17 if she was alive today. For any of us who lived in Jersey at the time of her death will never forget. Megan’s Law is the law that allows neighborhoods to be notified that there is a sex offender living there. Megan was killed by repeat child molester Jesse Timmendequas. The sad thing is that even though there is a national Megan’s Law that was signed into effect by President Clinton in 1996 it is not uniformly enforced from state to state. According to Megan’s mother, Maureen Kanka who runs the Megan Nicole Kanka Foundation, pedophiles will check to see which states have the weaker laws. This law does need to be enforced uniformly from state to state to try to prevent this from happening again anywhere.

What also kills me is that even though Jesse Timmendequas was sentenced to die, he’s still alive. For those of you who think that executing a piece of scum like Timmendequas is cruel and unusual, read what he did. I’ll put it behind a cut as it’s very disturbing….

Timmendequas lured Megan into his house, across the street from hers, offering to show her a puppy. Megan soon found that there was no puppy. After raping her, he slammed her head onto a dresser, put a plastic bag over her head, and strangled her with a belt. Blood came out of her mouth before she died. He raped her post-mortem after putting her in his car after he drove off. He then stuck her body into a toy box and left it in a nearby county park. A day later, he had led police to the body in the park.

It won’t bring Megan back. It’s not supposed to. It’s supposed to punish the guilty. A scumbag like Timmendequas showed no regard for Megan’s life. Why should we show regard for his? At least Timmendequas had the luxury of a trial. Megan didn’t. Execute him now.

Election Dysfunction

Is it just me? I just can’t seem to get excited about this election. I really would like President Bush to get re-elected but if Kerry wins…”meh”. It will just be like the Clinton years, a president who is ineffectual at best. 2000 was very different for me.

I kid about Kerry being the anti-Christ but in 2000 I really believed that about the Gore/Lieberman ticket. While people are bitching now about how the FCC is clamping down on the first amendment because you can’t talk about anal sex on the radio, Gore and Lieberman would not have stopped there.

Gore had his roots in censorship going back to his wife’s failed project of the ’80s, Tipper Gore’s PMRC. Lieberman, on the other hand, had his roots in something more recent. He belonged to a similar group called the Parents Television Council. Their mission was trying to tell you what should and should not be on TV.

Gore in his speech at the DNC In 2000 even echoes these sentiments when he told Hollywood that they need to change their ways when it came to sex and violence. Where was the talk of trampling free speech then? Oh, that’s right. When liberals talk of censorship it’s ok because it’s for the greater good. With Republicans, it’s all about restricting your rights.

Now looking back who would you have rather had in the White House during 9/11. I think if Al Gore was president at that time it would have been like the president character that Jack Nicholson played in “Mars Attacks”. Gore would just keep trying to negotiate with the terrorists while they keep up attack after attack until it’s too late.

Anyway, there are no real hot button issues for me in this election. I happen to agree with more of President Bush’s stances than I do with John Kerry’s. Whoever wins though, my life will go on the same as it always does. No better and no worse.

7/25/04: From The Mail Sack

Only one piece of hate mail this week. I must be slipping. It was left as a private message in my guestbook and you can’t make private messages public, unfortunately. Anyway, here it is. Be forewarned there is some rough language ahead…

From: toby

Location: a land far far away(thank fuckin god

eric and dylan wer victims too. im not in anyway defending what they did because I BELIEVE it was wrong, at the same time i can relate to it all. you cant honestly tell me you dont regret not killing your classmates. so all you fucks badmouthing them remember RESPECT THE DEAD!! ALL OF THE DEAD!!!! that includes those who may not be as worthy of our sympathy. so wake up and smeel your governments cum around your mouth, and wipe it of bitch coz you are all low and just as worthless as you believe eric and dylan.ignor the BULLSHIT propaganda you see on the tv and hear on the radio if you in the states you in a land of lies and hypocrisy if you believe what they tell you then you are not worth the ground you walk on. SEE YOU IN HELL. toby

As usual, the lack of intelligence by these mutants astonishes me. What I need to do is put some kind of like FAQ that says that Harris and Klebold were not victims and that I have yet to see any proof of them being harassed. I mean if they were harassed by a particular group of people or an individual don’t you think we would have heard of them by now. Don’t you think people would be blaming them for causing them to snap? Don’t you think people would be like “You’re the reason they killed 13 people.”? Instead, the mutants blame it on the ever-vague “jocks” label. I can honestly tell you that I don’t regret not killing my classmates because it was almost 20 years ago and I’ve moved on. I got out of that state while many of them are still living in the same place they were in high school. And for someone who says that America is so bad and supposedly speaks the queen’s English your vocabulary just proves how ignorant and misguided you are.

Columbine Lawsuit Appeal

Appeal of Columbine settlement rejected:

Seems like we have some news tonight after all. The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Michael and Vonda Shoels, parents of Isaiah Shoels who was killed at Columbine, cannot back out of a settlement with the parents of our favorite rotting in hell killer scumbags Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. The Shoelses’ say that the family accepted the settlement because of a mistake made at their lawyer’s office. Which may be entirely true. However, what gets me is that between the 13 families and others the settlement is only $1.6 million. I know you could never put a price on losing a family member but $1.6M between dozens of people seems like an insult to me. Another term of the settlement was that the families would drop lawsuits against the Harrises and Klebolds for letting their mutant offspring stockpile weapons. It sounds like the families may not have been well represented. And speaking of shady lawyering check out this quote from the Klebolds’ lawyer…

“We hope this means the end of Columbine lawsuits and that the healing in the community continues,” said Frank Patterson, attorney for the Klebolds.

Translation: Please stop suing my clients because if they don’t have any money I don’t get paid. Spare me. As we’ve all heard the Klebolds don’t think they did anything wrong and offer no apologies. They don’t want the community to heal. They just want the community off their backs because they feel like they’ve done nothing wrong. I guess you can see where their kid got his fucked up priorities.

Office Politics

On Friday we had politics in the office again, this time from the other side of the spectrum. One of the staff was going around asking for signatures on a letter she was sending to John Edwards asking him to support the proposed marriage amendment. Obviously, she doesn’t realize how the Democratic Party works these days. Just because Edwards is from the south doesn’t mean that he shares the opinions of its less tolerant citizens. He’s not going to rock the party boat even if he believes in gay marriage or not.

Anyway what galls me is that this person is so arrogant that she thinks everybody has the same opinion as her and if they don’t they should. Luckily, when she came to my desk my phone started to ring. She also happened to go around the office on a day when no supervisors were here. We also have gay employees here. I wonder if she asked them. Somehow I seriously doubt it.

Personally, I oppose the marriage amendment. Let them marry. Who are they hurting? Hell, let them have families for all I care. I’d rather see a child get adopted by a gay couple than end up in some doctor’s dumpster.

The point is. I don’t do politics at work. People are very passionate about their politics. I need to come in every day and work with these people. When you start discussing politics at work, no matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on, you’re going to make enemies. Having enemies at work will affect your performance. So don’t be an assclown. Leave your politics at home. Some of us are here to work.

I object

A report has been published that states that half of Americans surveyed object to the online availability of graphic war images. Count me among them.

I find it disturbing that so many people feel they have every right to view a man being beheaded. I find it disturbing that some people are so spoiled with the freedoms that we are afforded that they think if someone is restricting them from seeing anything it’s a violation of their rights.

As I keep saying you don’t need to see the videotaped beheadings of Daniel Pearl, Nicholas Berg, Paul Johnson, or Kim Sun-il. While you’re celebrating a victory for your “rights” the families of these victims are mourning the loss of their fathers, sons, brothers, who didn’t deserve the brutal slaughtering they received. But you don’t care. They’re only minor casualties in the greater goods for your “right” to gawk at their violent executions.

7/11/04: From The Mail Sack

You let the mail pile up for a month and this is what happens. Go the bathroom or get your snacks now because we’re in for a long haul today.

Our first warm fuzzy piece of love was from my entry on Matthew Lovett being sentenced

:???:I go to Collingswood school. I see alot of things. I heard about lovett ( I am new). Everyone agrees that he was severely harrassed. Do you know what that’s like, Trench? I don’t think you do. I think, by the way you judge this guy, that you are one of those that DOES the harrassing. I’m not saying thats reason enough, but give him some slack. Read your comments…they seem pretty VIOLENT to me, so you shouldn’t be talking.

Comment by Lightseeker — Monday Jun 14, 2004 @ 11:37 pm

My response was…

Actually I was harrassed in school but you know what? I got over it. It’s no reason to take up arms and start killing people. And let’s not forget this kid made his friends refer to him as “Neo” or “The One”. It’s obvious he had mental problems. I think the harrassment was just an excuse and was looking for a reason to start shooting people. And please show me where my comments are VIOLENT.

Comment by Trench — Tuesday Jun 15, 2004 @ 12:03 am

I love agreeing with me.

Wow, I never get comments on this entry. It’s from the one about the Eric Harris Journal

Yes, I like their music and Rammstein’s, too. Those bands are awesome but to get things straight – I don’t listen to them because Eric and Dylan liked did. I heard this kind of music way before I got to know about Columbine. Furthermore I think what Eric and Dylan did was wrong but I don’t hate them for it either. Life can be bitch and god knows that so many people are out there who think they own the world, which makes me mad as well….but killing them isn’t the right thing to do. I was never bullied …maybe a small tease here and there but that was rare actually and I think everone has to “endure” that. So I can call myself lucky at least in this case. Anyway…I still can imagine what Eric and Dylan have gone through and it was society which wronged them, not only the jocks at school. I understand that they wanted revenge for nor being accepted, for not being able to show their true capabilities, and for everthing else that just didn’t go as planned. But they had only a couple of weeks left before they would have graduated. They could have moved on. Another city. Different people. High School is one thing, college another. I may have a clue as to why they did it…but I don’t know why they just didn’t say: 3-4 more weeks and all you guys can just kiss our ass because we’re going to get a good job, since we have the brains and you can kick your football until you’re old.

…Well, another thing is…since the ones who are to blame for this massacre in the first place are dead…people are searching for scapegoats and it’s not nice to put the burden onto Eric and Dylan’s parents. They suffered enough. They lost their kids, too and have to take the knowledge to their graves that THEIR sons killed 13 humans. I heard that they searched the rooms from time to time but Dylan and Eric were not stupid. They may have left everthing in plain view on 4/20 because it didn’t matter anymore whether their parents found bomb making material or ammo but the months before they tried everything to keep the stuff hidden. Eric was grounded several times because of the things he did, don’t know about Dylan. What were the parents supposed to do? Cage them? It’s easy to say that they should have seen what was going on and that there were so many warning signs. After something has happened everything seems so obvious. It’s always like that. But I don’t think that their parents would have guessed that the guys planned a massacre. Who could imagine their own flesh and blood to go out and shoot people? The Harris’ and the Klebold’s TRUSTED their sons.

Comment by Jenna — Friday Jun 25, 2004 @ 5:49 pm

And look where TRUSTING their sons got them. 13 people are dead because of their TRUST. It wasn’t TRUST anyway. It was DENIAL. They didn’t want to believe that their kids were bad kids. SHould they have caged their kids? On this instance, yes. Realistically however they should have kept a tighter reign on them. Harris’ mental problems were well documented and couldn’t stay out of trouble. The Klebolds should have kept their mutant offspring away from Harris. You just don’t TRUST a psychopath.

This one is from my entry on Kim Sun-il being killed

this website sucks ass i thought it would show the beheading on this website. like the mpeg but i was wrong so this website sucks dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by jesus walks — Tuesday Jun 29, 2004 @ 5:48 pm

This comment might as well have been “OMG this site is teh sux0rz.” Or however the hell you spell that. This ladies and gentleman are the so-called enlightened masses who feel they need to view beheading videos.

And again from the Eric Harris Journal entry

I admire what Harris and Klebold did. As for killing innocent people, if the students who watched and did nothing to stop the harrassment of harris and klebold. The are just as guilty, as those who did the actual harrassing.

In WWII, the german people did nothing to stop the killing of 6 million people, very few took up arms to eliminate the threat to humanity.

So if they took up arms to kill the harrassers, well. Soldiers and those who think they are “Warriors” deserve what happens to them.

Comment by ross — Thursday Jul 1, 2004 @ 12:12 am

So let me get this straight. You’re comparing the extermination of millions of Jews by the Nazi’s to two little high school kids getting picked on. That would be laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic. I guess fanatics will use any skewed hypothesis to support their obviously flawed argument.

Another one from the sentencing of Matthew Lovett

Matthew, was not fantisizing at all. He knows exactly what he wanted to do and he was going for. He thinks like me. Its diversity. Diversity is like a graph. Some ppl are at 10, 9. Others are at -10, -9. The ppl that are opposite of each other dont get along, and sometimes hate each other. Matthew and I are very similar. I think I could tell you almost every thought that went through his head. He was tatood by society as a freak. therefor everyone hated him. Anyone who has been hated by a mass group of ppl knows that its a horrible feeling. The longer it lasts, the more your mind decays. You may have once thought that all people are caring and you should try your best to be the person who opens ppls eyes and shows them how to accept others even though theyre different. After one year, you may decide that you hate eveyone, there is no hope for a better life and everyone deserves to die. Ill bet that what happened to Matthew. But he has gone throughmore than 1 year of depression. Hes probally gone through 4 years of bastards that yell “freak” when they see him. He carried a bat with him to make sure that no1 fucked w/ him.

Sure, everyone gets picked on at somepoint in their life, but you will never understand until it happens to you. When you feel like that 1 person who picked on you for so long, should be tortured to an unspeakable death, then you know how he and many other who are too afraid to do anything major, feel.

Comment by SeVaS — Saturday Jul 10, 2004 @ 1:00 pm

And same entry same person…

EVERYONE: The next person that picks on you, dont take it out on some1 else. Grab that bastard by his collar and smash his fucking face in to the concrete. Then you can drown him in his own blood. The way things are today, violence IS the answer. Ppl dont listen. Trust me. Ive tried it.

Comment by SeVaS — Saturday Jul 10, 2004 @ 1:11 pm

Where does everyone get off thinking that I was never excluded or harassed. Sorry kids. I was right there with you. And yeah, it sucks. Probably one of the worst pains ever. Still no excuse to go on a killing spree. Violence is not the answer. Decent parenting is. In most cases of school shooting plots carried out or otherwise, a parent’s guidance could have prevented all of it. Instead, we have parents who want to be their kids’ buddies. Which is fine but there comes a time when you have to stop being a friend and be a parent. Listen to your kids’ problems. Don’t just brush it off as “growing pains”. Don’t be afraid to take it to the school if there is a bullying problem. If the school doesn’t do anything about it take it to the media. Tell everyone who will listen. If they have mental problems get them professional help and stick with it. Just don’t brush it off. Unless you want your kid to end up in jail or dead like so many others. Don’t have the “not my kid” mentality.

Now from my entry about the Eric Harris worship site

Hi, Reading some of the comments on this page made me laugh. Anyway, for all you people who say “They were evil” and stuff, your opinions are classic for the sort of people E & D were gunning for. YOu see, it’s easy to say they were evil, it deflects the blame from you and people like you and back onto the true victims. Saying they’re evil is too easy. You’re the sort of people that probably read the headlines on papers but never the full article. YOu conform to society and take what it has to say. We will always be full of hate when there are people like you around. Eric and Dylan aren’t “burning in hell” as one of you morons wanted t put it. They rejected God but he still loves them. God knows they were victims too, even if you don’t.

Comment by Merlin — Saturday Jul 10, 2004 @ 4:51 pm

You know, it gets old after a while. Harris and Klebold were not victims. They were two mentally disturbed individuals who decided to make their sick fantasies a reality. The “non-conformist” crap you talk about is a joke. Everybody conforms to something whether they like it or not. You’ve just chosen to conform to all the mutants out there who worship these two assclowns as heroes. God may still love them but God also knows they need to be punished for their sins. Therefore they are burning in hell as we speak.

Lastly I got this one in my e-mail with the subject of “who killed who?”…

This is from: Dale(

Who killed whom??

It is a fact that over 900 rounds were fired at Columbine high school on April 20 1999.

The record shows that Eric and Dylan fired around 177 rounds. So that means that Police and other law enforcement agencies fired the rest. What and who were the Police shooting at?

The Police reports say Eric and Dylan killed themselves, so whom were the cops shooting at. How could highly trained SWAT team members and Police fire over 700 rounds at Eric and Dylan and not hit them once?

Were innocent students killed by Police fire and the deaths blamed on Eric and Dylan?

To put it bluntly um….no. According to this article by CNN police only fired 141 rounds. None of which hit any students. And according to this from CNN Harris and Klebold fired 188 rounds. For a whopping total of 329 rounds fired. The only places I saw that laid claim to 900 rounds were a faulty TIME Magazine report and *gasp* Bowling For Columbine. And as we all know King of All Assclowns Michael Moore never lies. The only site I could find that backs up your story is some conspiracy theory site that says that the government knew Columbine was going to happen before it happened. You and my lizard friend from above need to be sharing the same padded room. Mutants will spin any amount of lies they want to defend their cowardly heroes. When all is said and done they’re just like they’re heroes. Cowards who only live through the blood-soaked fantasies of others. You people who worship and defend Harris and Klebold are aberrations of humanity and for the most part, you will never amount to anything. Get the help that you truly need.

Big Brother Joe is watching you

My second bone of contention today is from my favorite Senator from Connecticut Joe Lieberman. He has co-authored a bill with a $90 Million price tag that will try to figure out whether kids’ favorite TV shows, movies, and video games are actually bad for their health.

There’s a good use of taxpayer money huh? Even Lieberman’s own censorship squad, the Parents Television Council, say this is a bad idea. How about this Joe? Why not do a study on why people stopped parenting their kids. Joe even admits as much…

Lieberman says parents need to play a more active role in what their kids are watching.

“You can’t put it all off on the entertainment industry,” he said.

Then what is the point of this bill? If it’s so obvious then why do you need $90 Million? Lieberman has very pro-censorship leanings. I feel like this is his way of trying to disguise a “well-meaning” program that’s actually an Orwellian dream for him.
