Guilty verdict on lesser charges in MySpace case:
First off I hope you all had a Happy and safe Thanksgiving those of you in the U.S. Now on to the story I’m sure you’ve been waiting for me to talk about.
Lori Drew was convicted. As I’m sure you all know by now she was only convicted of the lesser misdemeanor charges of three counts of accessing a computer without authorization. The jury was hung on the felony count of conspiracy. If I remember correctly the most she can get is one year a piece for each of the misdemeanor convictions. Let’s face it though, she’ll do no time.
U.S. District Judge George Wu still has not ruled on the defense’s motion for a mistrial which could result in there being no conviction whatsoever.
I’m going to wait on Judge Wu’s ruling before I offer any further commentary because anything I say now could be made moot come Monday or when ever he decides to rule.
Murder charge, $1 million bail in death of Turlock newborn:
19-year-old Jessica Mae Betts of Turlock, California has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Betts is accused of leaving her newborn in a dumpster to die.
She’s being held on $1M bond and is facing a max of life in prison.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9th.
California ‘haven’ youth in home state:
The 14-year-old from Davis, California who was dropped off by his foster Breeder in Nebraska is returning to California.
He’s now under the custody of his local social services department. That makes me wonder if his foster Breeder actually tried to find assistance within her community or was driving 1,170 miles to Nebraska her first choice.
Not too many days ago it was the 2nd anniversary of Sebastian Bosse’s rampage at the Geschwister Scholl School in Germany where he injured 8 before taking his own life. In one of my trips through the land of the mutants I saw some that posted a sort of tribute to Bosse saying that he’ll be godlike. If that wasn’t bad enough someone posted a follow-up that said they wished they could have been one of his victims.
If your life revolves around the idolization of school shooters you need help. It’s that black and white. It’s wrong.
Web site touts Obama-related sites, activities:
HONOLULU – Criticized for moving slowly to take advantage of a native sons’ election to the presidency, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau has unveiled a new Web site listing some of the spots President-elect Barack Obama has visited as an adult.
I wonder if it will show where he pinched off a loaf too.
Court: Florida Gay Adoption Ban Unconstitutional:
Here’s something that may come as a surprise to some of my more conservative readers. I actually support gay marriage and this article about the Florida gay adoption ban being struck down is a good reason why.
I make no bones about my stance of being pro-life because I was adopted. I would rather see a loving gay couple adopt children then have them end up in either an abortionists dumpster or end up on the street or end up being adopted by a straight couple who are just in it for the cash.
I don’t see what the big deal about gay marriage is anyway. It’s not like straight people have done a whole lot for the alleged ‘institution’ of marriage. If marriage is such an institution straight people have burned the institution down and left a smoldering husk.
In jailhouse confession, father admits to killing son:
In an interview with the Boston Globe. Ernesto Gonzalez confessed to stabbing his son to death and dismembering the body in the bathtub of his Lynn apartment.
Police are skeptical about the confession because the blood found in Ernesto Gonzalez’s apartment was not Giovanni’s.
Police are still optimistic that Giovanni is alive.
Thank you Karen for pointing that out to me.
This post was revised.
Mother Accused Of Killing 3-Year-Old Daughter Held On $750,000 Bail:
I originally posted about Isabella Grace Martinez here. She was the 3-year-old who was allegedly choked to death in a motel room by her FBO Veva Virgil.
Virgil has pleaded not guilty to the murder and is being held on $750K bond.
Her next court appearance will be December 17th.
Mom charged in toddler’s death:
I previously posted about Elijah Burger here. He was toddler who was beaten to death by his DSD, Andre Hampton, in a run down Charlotte motel room. Now his mother, Lashinna Burger, has also been charged in his death.
So far CMPD is being tight lipped about what led them to arrest Burger.
Mom follows dark path from icy rescue to murder charge:
Less than a year ago Michelle Kehoe’s car skidded off the road, hit a curb then plunged into the Iowa river. Her sons were in the car with her. 4 good Samaritans were able to rescue Kehoe and her boys then ages 6 and 14 months.
Apparently some of that was for naught as Kehoe has been arrested for slashing the throats of both of her sons.
The 2-year-old and the 7-year-old were found in Kehoe’s van that appeared to have been abandoned. The 2-year-old was dead but the 7-year-old survived.
The 7-year-old told police that his mother covered his eyes, ears and mouth with duct tape and then slit his throat. She did the same to the 2-year-old while his brother listened on.
In a very Susan Smith like moment on that day Kehoe went to a house and said that an unknown man had abducted her children. When police investigated they found a note that detailed what she would tell police in the van. She later admitted to purchasing the duct tape and knife.
Which makes one wonder if the crash into the river was not an attempt at a Susan Smith II.
