Last month the FBI arrested 31-year-old Eric Fantau for allegedly trying to meet a minor for sex at a mall in Wayne, New Jersey. If it’s not fast food joints it’s malls with these creeps. I bet they think it gives them some kind of plausible deniability. “I was just here to buy some pants” or something like that.
Anyway the FBI says that Fantau posted more than 100 ads on craigslist looking for sex with minors. They even say that Fantau admits to meeting at least one minor for sex. Right. Just one? I doubt that. With over 100 ads posted I seriously doubt he only got one bite. The FBI must think that too because they believe there may have been other victims.
Anyone with information regarding Fantau or if anyone thinks they may be the victims of a crime, call the FBI New York’s tip line at 212-384-1000. All tips and information will remain confidential. Victim specialists will be available to assist victims.
How many of Fantau’s 100 alleged ads were flagged or pulled by craigslist? It wouldn’t surprise me if none of them were flagged. Yet craigslist still allows the casual encounters section to remain unmonitored. I wonder how many kids are molested in a week through craigslist in the New York metropolitan area alone. One is too many and craigslist refuses to do anything about and the media lets it slide. It’s not the story du jour anymore.
