The San Francisco office of the FBI recently announced that they had shut down ‘escort’ site MyReddbook and arrested its proprietor Eric Omuro. He’s been charged with facilitating prostitution and money laundering. The FBI has also taken possession of the website and visitors to the site are greeted with an FBI takedown page.
Now of course this raises the question will the feds go after Backpage next? Well, that depends. I get the impression that they were able to close down MyRedbook more due to the money laundering than the facilitation of prostitution. While MyRedbbok was a major player in online sex trafficking it pales in comparison to the scope of Backpage. MyRedbook is a mom and pop store compared to Backpage’s corporate command of the internet. Backpage’s owners, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, maybe morally bankrupt as human beings but I doubt they’re stupid enough to get involved in something small time like money laundering. However I really hope this arrest makes them more than a little nervous.
According to the article calls to New York state poison control went up from 46 calls in 2013 to 70 in 2014, in a state of almost 20 million. I would lay odds that they get more calls about poisonings from things that already come with childproof caps like prescription medication and bleach.
Schumer also has to trot out the candy flavors trope as well…
“With flavors like bubble gum and chocolate, it’s no wonder children are attracted to e-liquid in the hopes that it’s candy,” Schumer.
The thing is Chuck you can get childproof bottles from most reputable vaping outlets and if your local one doesn’t have one they can be ordered online. Not to mention that most kids can open child proof caps anyway.
Once again clueless politicians are too willing to waste taxpayer money over trivial B.S.
One of the principles this country was founded on was freedom of choice. Apparently choice has been replaced by ‘mandates’.
I’ve been promising Mrs. Trench that I would post this one for a while. She’s a huge horror fan. I’ve moved away from the horror genre after it became mostly torture porn like Saw and Hostel. However I do have a bone to pick with this map. Pumpkinhead for North Carolina? Really?
If Georgia gets Deliverance as a ‘horror’ movie then there is only one movie for the Tarheel State and that’s Cape Fear.
The now 22-year-old Bartley was recently arrested for allegedly making violent threats against his father over a set of car keys. When police arrived Bartley allegedly head butted one of the cops and had to be subdued/TASERed. Bartley was said to be under the influence. Gee, who thought a violent drugged out kid would be a violent drugged out adult, allegedly.
Bartley’s dad paid Bartley’s bond. So that means a killer walks the streets again. Bartley’s lawyer blames his client’s behavior on the ‘public scrutiny’ his client is under. I mean it’s not like he’s ever showed prior violent tendencies before. Oh wait.
Bartley is a ticking time bomb who should have never been let out of prison in the first place. It’s only a matter of time before he’s back in there for good again. I hope the members of the jury who saw to his release can live with that.
This Tuesday, July 1st, will mark the 15th anniversary since the disappearance of then 11-year-old Adam Herrman from the Butler County, Kansas home of his adoptive Breeders, Doug and Valerie Herrman. While Adam disappeared in 1999 his disappearance wasn’t reported to anyone until 2008. His adoptive Breeders were collecting the government benefits for Adam the entire time he was gone. They were both sentenced to less than a year in jail on fraud charges.
Just recently an anonymous donor doubled the reward for information leading to the discovery of Adam to $100,000.
Anyone with information about Adam’s whereabouts or his disappearance is asked to call 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or 316-322-4257.
If you were to ask my opinion I would reluctantly say that I think Adam is no longer with us. When this story first broke it was big time national news. If no one could find him then I think it’s very unlikely that he’s till alive. Even so Adam needs to come home and those who wronged him need to face justice.
We’re all familiar with bleach right? The stuff that makes your clothes white even if they weren’t white before. The stuff that when mixed with ammonia makes chlorine gas. (Don’t ever mix those two.) Lastly and most importantly the stuff YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DRINK. Are we this dumb as a society that there are people out there that really think it’s ok to drink bleach let alone give it to their kids.
Apparently there is as we go to Bunker Hill, Kansas, where Pam Pertl is accused of making her foster kids drink milk that was laced with bleach. I guess it’s ok since wholesome milk was involved. Anyway, why did Ms. Pertl allegedly give the teens bleach and milk to drink. Why to mask their drug test results since she was allegedly smoking weed with her foster teens. Guess what, it didn’t work as they all failed the drug test.
I’ve been around enough burnouts to imagine how this happened. “Dude, this one guy told me that of you drink bleach you can pass a drug test. We should so try that.”
Talk about how harmless weed is all you want it’s still a crime in 48 states. Deal with it.
Before we even get started I just want to come out and say I still support vaping and still believe it is the most effective way to quit smoking. However…
Even though I play a calm and cool suave and debonair character on the internet it couldn’t be further from the truth in real life. In reality I’m about as neurotic as they come. One of my many neuroses is that I have a really difficult time saying no to salesmen. It;s why I despise car shopping and why I’ve bought useless magazine and newspaper subscriptions and family photo sessions at a time when I didn’t even have a family.
Recently a new vape store opened in my area a lot closer to my house than my usual vaping place and I decided to check it out. All I really wanted was some e-juice, a new coil for my tank and a cartomizer for Mrs. Trench. As soon as I walked into the new store I could tell it was low rent. Before I could even say what I wanted the sales douche descended upon me like the proverbial pack of vultures. He wanted to know what kind of mod I was using. I was still using the eGo starter kit I bought back in November of last year. I never had a problem with the eGo and it did exactly what I needed it to. Anyway, sales douche tells me that since I’m using an eGo I’m not really vaping. He then tries to sell me these mods that are the size of police flashlights and are overly complicated. Pass.
I notice they have an Itazte MVP adjustable battery. I’ve always wanted one of these but it was more money that I needed to be spending at the time. Sales douche showed it off to me and just to get him to go away I reluctantly said yes. Well that wasn’t enough, he had to get me to buy a new tank too neglecting to tell me that there are two double coil tanks included with the MVP. Two tanks, I may add, that I’m still trying to figure out how to fill.
So then I had to get juice. All their juice tasted like ass. Well not ass specifically but they all tasted very synthetic. Yes, I realize that they are synthetic flavors but I’ve had juices that didn’t taste like I was smoking Liquid Plumr.
So after it was all said and done I had spent way too much money on a bunch of stuff I didn’t really need. I was going to return the MVP at least until I spilled juice on the electronic parts pretty much voiding their already shady return policy. This may not seem like a lot of money to you but I’m unemployed with no unemployment benefits where every dollar counts. Thanks to my own neurotic idiocy and their pressurized sales tactics not only have I taken food out of my family’s mouths but I’ll probably have to shut off my cell phone as well.
If you find a store that you’re comfortable with stick with it. Don’t even entertain the notion of trying a new store. My usual store, MadVapes as I’ve mentioned before, has never pressured me to buy something I didn’t need and has always been helpful with the things I did need.
So if you’re interested in buying a slightly used MVP please let me know. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go beg for change on the off-ramp.
When I saw the headline “Only the guilty want closure in West Memphis Three case” I thought finally the press is giving time to someone who doesn’t believe the WM3 hype machine. That sentiment was dashed when I saw that the article was written by convicted triple child murderer Damien Echols himself.
In an editorial published by the Arkansas Times, Echols continually tries to hold on to his 15 minutes. Feel free to read the entire article but let’s take a look at some select quotes from Mikey.
(Scott)Ellington may be the only person on the planet who believes there is “closure” in my case.
First off do you notice that he said his case. I thought it was the case of the three murdered boys. At least he could have said our case referring to the other two convicted child killers but no. You can pretty much figure out Damien Echols in that one short sentence. It’s all about him.
It was easy for him to seek closure, of course; he was not sitting in solitary confinement on death row for a crime he did not commit. Thankfully, the Supreme Court did not listen and ruled unanimously to review our wrongful convictions.
Except they didn’t. They granted a hearing to see if the supposed DNA evidence was enough to grant a new trial, but why let the truth get in the way of a good story. Also how can he continue to call it a wrongful conviction when his defense team approached the DA’s office with the suggestion of the Alford plea?
No one wants closure more than me, Jason Baldwin, Jessie Misskelley and the families of the murdered children.
Except four of the six family members of the victims believe that Echols and company are guilty.
Now with the opening of “Devil’s Knot,” the latest film on this tragedy, some are once again calling for closure. After all, aren’t four documentaries, a feature film, books, numerous network television features, hundreds of newspaper and magazine stories, blogs, bloggers, websites and God knows how many tweets on the murders of the three boys, enough? I guess not.
None of those things are evidence let alone unbiased.
DA Scott Ellington should keep his promise to review new evidence given to him by my defense team in a meaningful manner, and he should avoid giving comfort to the real killer and discouraging new witnesses from coming forward by proclaiming that the case is “closed.”
What evidence is he speaking of? Not the outlandish pot smoking gay tryst scenario? That doesn’t even qualify as being a Weekly World News story let alone evidence.
Damien Echols was released from death row in Arkansas in August of 2011. He and his wife, Lorri Davis, live in New York City.
What happened to Salem? Did the locals get tired of having a child killer among them?
He’s right about one thing though. There will never be closure on this case as long as the killers walk free and as long as Echols keeps his name in the media. I’d settle for the closure of his lying mouth.
I can’t do every craigslist creeper story anymore because there are just too many of them. Every once in a while though, it only takes a mugshot to make me stop and post one of those stories. For example take 51-year-old Jeff Beckman of Rosholt, Wisconsin. Have you ever heard the expression ‘don’t get your nose bent out of shape’? It looks like he did.
Anyway, Beckman has recently pleaded not guilty to child solicitation and child porn charges. Police in nearby Marathon County say that Beckman allegedly responded to a craigslist ad they placed posing as someone peddling children. They say that Beckman was willing to pay $60 to have sex with three children, ages 12, 14, and 15. Police later found child porn while searching his home.
Yet as a society we’re still apathetic towards getting craigslist to monitor their own yard. I wonder if the ad the police placed was even flagged by anyone on their local craigslist. Somehow I doubt that it was.
