16-year-old Alex Hribal has been moved from a juvenile detention facility to a mental health facility. Hribal is facing 21 attempted murder charges for stabbing 21 people at Franklin Regional Senior High School in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, back in April. A psychiatrist for his defense says that Hribal is schizophrenic. A doctor for the prosecution says that Hribal is only depressed because he’s in a correctional facility.
That’s all well and good but what I find more interesting is that during the hearing with the psychologists it was revealed that Hribal’s attack was allegedly inspired by Columbine.
Hribal says he related to how the Columbine attackers felt — and that he felt ostracized in school. He also said he didn’t expect to survive the knife attack, that it would be his message to the world. Hribal even wanted to carry out his attack on April 20, the anniversary of the Columbine tragedy, but moved the date because school was not in session that day.
He’s not mentally ill. He’s just another mutant/columbiner who incorrectly identifies with the Columbine cowards. Hate to break it to you kid but they weren’t ostracized. They had plenty of friends and were pretty popular.
Not everyone gets to be the big man on campus, kids. The sooner you can deal with that the better your life will be. Or you can be like this mutant and be looking down the business end of a several decade prison sentence. The choice is yours.
Donald Gary Town
47-year-old Donald Gary Town was recently arrested in Missoula, Montana, for allegedly trying to solicit sex from a 14-year-old boy on craigslist who was actually an investigator from the Montana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Town’s ad allegedly said that he was in to “young skinny” males. Town is said to have the investigator for explicit photos and of course was arrested at pre-determined meeting location.
Not surprisingly Town is a registered sex offender who not only did time for sexual abuse of children but also sexual intercourse without consent. He obviously didn’t do enough time. I mean who would have guessed that a sex offender would have taken to craigslist to find more victims? The answer to that question is everyone except craigslist.
Taylor and Coleman
One of the arguments I keep hearing in defense of Backpage and their ads for prostitution is that the girls are safer online than they are on the streets. But are they really?
Police in Tampa, Florida, have arrested 19-year-old Ikeem Alonzo Taylor and 20-year-old Corey Terrell Coleman for the alleged rape and robbery of two women who were advertising on Backpage as escorts. Taylor is said to have raped and robbed the women and gunpoint while Coleman acted as his driver.
It sounds like these women may have been ‘independent contractors’ but God forbid if either of them had pimps. Do you think that the pimps would care if they lost money because they were raped? If anything they’d probably face additional violence from the pimp and this is the cycle of violence that Backpage perpetuates by keeping the adult section open. It’s not free speech that Backpage is really worried about, it’s their blood money.
On this day 17 years ago I published my first hand typed snippets of HTML known as a website from a one room apartment on the South Jersey shore. On this day in 1997 the persona that would become to be known as Trench Reynolds was created.
Thank you all for your support over the many years.
The FBI recently released a report after studying 160 ‘shooting incidents’ from 2000 to 2013. They came to the understanding that most of the shootings took place at either a school or workplace. However the most damning piece of news to come out of the study is that mass shootings have been on a very sharp upswing since 2007.
According to the report, an average of six shooting incidents occurred in the first seven years that were studied. That average rose to more than 16 per year in the last seven years of the study.
Since the report was released a lot of people have been blaming the increase in shootings on whatever their pet cause is whether it be gun culture, video games or the media. I am no different except I like to think that my pet causes make a little more sense.
Again, as the dead horse I continue to beat, a lot of these gunmen were mentally ill. While not excusing their actions it does tell us that, in my opinion, that they may be too afraid to seek treatment due to the stigma that is still placed on seeking mental healthcare in our society. Let’s be honest, if you had a friend or co-worker who confided in you that they were seeking mental health treatment for whatever reason most of you would not only look at them differently but you’d probably start going out of your way to avoid them. There;s also the other side of the mental health coin too. When does the safety of the public outweigh the ‘feelings’ of the criminally and violently insane? Because that’s what it’s come too, that we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by telling them they need to be committed.
The next reason is that as each year passes our society becomes more and more entitled. Too many people think that they’re special invaluable snowflakes who are owed by the world. Let me tell you something, the world doesn’t owe you shit. I had bad grades in school. Was it every teacher’s fault? No it was mine because I wouldn’t apply myself. I’ve been out of work for the better part of a year, I can’t get hired to save my life. Is that my former employers’ fault? No it’s mine and I’m trying to better myself so that I can get hired on somewhere. In either of those cases what I didn’t do is commit a mass violent atrocity. If things suck in your life there’s a good chance that it’s your fault. You can either blame everyone else or suck it up and try to do better. Killing a bunch of people shows just how incapable you are of being a rational adult.
The last reason is because of misinformation. True journalism is dead. It’s more important now to be first rather than true. After every mass shooting how much false information is spread through the internet? How much of that misinformation is believed as fact afterwards? How many mass shooters have identified with previous mass shooters because of that misinformation? The answer to all of those questions are too many.
So what’s the solution? There isn’t one. It’s too late. We’ve become a society of gullible, emotional, narcissistic and ignorant marks. It’s going to get much worse and will never get better.
***POSSIBLE SPOILERS MAYBE?***
With most superhero movies you have to sacrifice something vital to the comic book that doesn’t necessarily work on the big screen, this movie did not have that problem. Almost everything from the comic translated seamlessly to the movie and the minor things they did change worked for the better.
As far as I am concerned this is the new standard that all superhero movies need to be held to. Unlike The Avengers there was no slowdown in this movie. I was transfixed from start to finish. Since I read the comic I was aware of what the big reveal was going to be but I was still, anxious waiting for the moment to happen.
I can’t recommend this movie enough. If you don’t like this movie you hate America and freedom and are probably a member of Al-Qaeda.
Sue Klebold, the mother of Columbine killer Dylan Klebold, is said to be writing her memoirs which will deal with the ‘indescribable grief and shame’ she has had to live with for 15 years. Also, all proceeds from the book will go to charity and mental health research. So does this mean that the Klebolds are finally accepting responsibility for the events on April 20th 1999? While that remains to be seen I doubt it.
In the past during rare times that she has spoken to the media she has made excuses for her, her husband Tom and their hellspawn. In 2004 she told the New York Times that “I haven’t done anything for which I need forgiveness.” In 2009 in an essay she wrote for O Magazine she basically admitted how clueless she was when it came to her son and again she admitted as such in a 2012 book about children who commit crimes. So you’ll have to forgive me if I think the book is going to be anything but more of the same.
But I hear you say “She’s not being paid for the book.” Of course she isn’t, not directly anyway. The only reason the proceeds are going to charity is because the families of the real victims of her son would raise holy hell if she took even a penny. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other ways to get compensated especially if the book takes off.
Then again maybe the guilt has finally gotten to her. The article states that she’s been wanting to write this book since Sandy Hook. That’s more than fitting since just about every school shooter has paid some tribute to her son and his cowardly cohort Eric Harris. Cho Seung-Hui, Stephen Kazmierczak and Adam Lanza all viewed her son as a hero. She has it within her power to try to end that kind of veneration of killers. Whether or not she chooses to use that power responsibly remains has yet to be determined.
I liked it. I thought the casting of Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock was brilliant and the guy who plays Penguin is great as well. My only problem with the premiere episode is that jammed too many references into one episode. One of the great things about Arrow is that they limit those geek references to about one per episode. In this initial episode of Gotham, we were given glimpses of Catwoman, Riddler, Poison Ivy and Joker. We get it, this is Gotham City.
The other thing is that I hope they’re not leaving the investigation of the Waynes’ murder as is. It could be a season-long or even series-long story arc and it kind of felt like they just dropped it at the end of the episode.
However all in all so far so good.
You know, I was going to do this long drawn out post on this but what’s the point? I’ve been over this so many times and now there’s clinical support for my assertions.
Anyway, researchers at Freie Universität Berlin conducted a study of 126 attacks against schools in 16 different countries and do you know what they found was at the root of most attacks?
The biggest surprise for the researchers was that 43 percent of the perpetrators had problems, conflicts, or unjust experiences with teachers and school representatives before they went on the school shooting spree.
And since most school shooters are narcissistic ego-maniacs in my opinion the slights from teachers were probably not even slights at all.
Now can we please stop the bullied school shooter trope? Not only is it not true it really doesn’t do anything to stop bullying.
I’m not even going to preface this one. Oh wait, I guess I just did. Anyway…
Dont write a story if you dont know the facts. This website is based off of what other people say. And you write biased BULLSHIT fucking meedia stories that have the potential to ruin someones life. Fucking cocksuckers. What right do you think you have even having a website like this?? I really do hope you respond to what im saying. I will report this.
Once again, this website gets its information from media reports who usually get their information from the police. It’s not like we’re going door to door in the neighborhood asking about what happened like some group of nattering hens. If charges are dropped or a person is exonerated in any case we will be more than happy to remove the story. Somehow I doubt that has happened in whatever case you’re talking about.
You know what else has the potential to ruin someone’s life? Child abuse.
What right do I have? Last time I checked it was called the First Amendment. There are exceptions to the first amendment but I doubt you’ll find them here. Some people even call this site a responsibility more than a right.
And while I’m consciously trying to cut back on my cursing who the fuck are you going to report us to, the internet police?
Eat a bowl of dicks,
