One of Cassie Jo Stoddart’s killers is seeking a new trial yet again

In 2006 16-year-olds Torey Adamcik and Brian Draper brutally stabbed and killed their friend, 16-year-old Cassie Jo Stoddart of Pocatello, Idaho. They even recorded portions of their crime. Again from my first post on Cassie Jo’s murder

“Just killed Cassie, we just left her house, this is not a f***ing joke,” says Brian Draper on the homemade videotape. “I’m shaking,” replies Adamcik.”I stabbed her in the throat and I saw her lifeless body just disappear,” says Draper.

forensically tested
Both were tried as adults, both were convicted and both were sentenced to life in prison. Another thing they have in common is that they both have sought to receive new trials and so far both of their convictions have been upheld. Now, once again, Adamcik is trying again for a new trial and the reasoning behind it astounds me in its equal parts cruelty and stupidity.

“The theory of the case is that Torey didn’t inflict the fatal wound and due to missteps by the defense, critical evidence that would have supported that theory of the case was excluded,” said Dennis Benjamin, Adamcik’s attorney.

Cassie Jo was stabbed 29 times. So Adamcik’s lawyer is actually arguing that out of the 29 times that she was stabbed his client didn’t administer the stab that killed her. So what were they then, paper cuts, flesh wounds? This is the ultimate insult to not only Cassie Jo’s memory but to her family as well.

Hopefully the courts will see this for the idiocy it is and keep this murdering coward behind bars for the rest of his unnatural life.

UPDATE 7/6/2015: The knives used to kill Cassie will be forensically tested to try to prove this idiotic theory.

    Torey and your parents:
How could you and your parents not even apologize. you are saying that not only did you not murder Cassie Jo Stoddart but that you had nothing to do with it. Don’t you think you should at least fess up to the fact that you helped plan this awful event and that you were there to see it happen. In the BBC documentary You and your parents both pretend like you had nothing to do with this. You were a little angel, you were just a follower not a leader. Its a total cop out. You aren’t even going to say that you are sorry or that you feel bad. And your parents aren’t going to admit that you had anything to do with this??! Your dad says “it must be harder because you were innocent, to face it” and your response is “yea, I guess” I can see the conviction in your eyes. You know you are not innocent. When you are 16 you know the difference between right and wrong. Especially with a subject as black and white as murder. You can’t say that you were coerced into helping someone murder your “friend” when the video of the two of you says something totally different. Even if you just stood and watched, don’t you feel bad??? Don’t you remember saying that you were horny just thinking about going to her house to murder her. That is not innocence.. don’t your parents believe that you could have tried to stop this, or at least turned yourself in? Don’t play stupid. You were a part of taking away an innocent young womans life, and now you and your parents are playing the card that YOUR life was ruined. Well poor you, you have been in jail for about 8 years, you think that you should be allowed back on the streets and that you have been punished enough?? You watched as Cassie’s life was not only ruined but ended. I hope that ruined your life! And your awful/naive parents. You keep making her family re live this terrible event over and over. No matter how much you and your parents want to believe you had nothing to do with this it is just irresponsible to not even feel bad. You are not innocent, nothing about this says innocent. Just because you “allegedly” did not stab her does not make you innocent. The fact that you cant even admit to any of this is sad. Do you really think that 8 years is enough of a punishment? maybe a good place to start is with this ” I am sorry, what I did was wrong. I was a part of this terrible murder against an innocent girl named Cassie Stoddart. I am sorry.”

Wow. You said everything that I was thinking and more. I just watched the documentary you speak of and that is what led me here. I also was led to a website that is dedicated to trying to free Adamcik and includes his address and inmate number so that you can write to him your words of “support and encouragement.” What baffles me even more is that the creator of this particular website states that Adamcik thought that they were only making a movie about killing Cassie Stoddart and that he had no idea that Brian Draper was REALLY going to kill her. the website goes as far as labeling Brian Draper as a “murderous psychopath” oh and Adamcik is innocent….so upsetting. His parents are even worse.
