The last we heard from Campbell County High School shooter Kenny Bartley, he was leaving his native Tennessee to go live with his psychologist and her family in Virginia. That was in February. In April an arrest warrant was issued for Bartley because his ankle monitor indicated Bartley had been allegedly using alcohol, a violation of his probation. However, since the charge is only a misdemeanor Bartley’s extradition was not actively sought from Virginia. Basically if Bartley got picked up by police anywhere then he’d be returned to Tennessee. Then things got weird.
Earlier this month the three-year-old son of Bartley’s psychologist died after suffering a head injury while alone with Bartley. Bartley’s psychologist said that her son fell down some steps. Police in Virginia are still investigating and did not realize that Bartley had any warrants out for him. Since that time Bartley has fled the residence in Virginia and has even allegedly taunted police on Facebook saying ‘catch me if you can’.
When I originally posted about Bartley leaving for Virginia I said that I hope no harm comes to the psychologist or her family. While no one has yet been charged in her child’s death can it really be that coincidental?
According to federal investigators Lesnau contacted a woman on craigslist for her ‘adult services’. Allegedly Lesnau heard the woman’s six-year-old daughter crying in the background and asked how much would it be to have sex with the girl. The woman ended the phone call and reported it to authorities. The FBI stepped in and had the woman call back saying that she was desperate for money and was willing to entertain Lesnau’s vile request.
Let’s top right there for a moment. I can already hear the perv patrol crying and gnashing their teeth while wailing claims of entrapment. This is not entrapment. If the reports are correct, which I’m going to assume they are, the suspect was the first person to approach the subject of having sex with her daughter. If law enforcement were the ones to first bring it up then it would be entrapment. Now back to our story.
Besides, after you read this I don’t think anyone would believe a claim of entrapment…
A series of texts were exchanged, during which Lesnau asked for topless photos of the mother and daughter to ensure they were “for real,” asked about the child’s prior sexual experience and offered to pay $200, the FBI says.
Conversation became more graphic in a phone call the following day, during which the FBI says Lesnau said he wanted to watch the mother and daughter “play around together” with adult toys.
Investigators set up a meeting place at a Rochester motel where Lesnau was arrested.
Lesnau’s attorney is saying that the criminal complaint is one-sided and Lesnau is looking forward to his day in court. I can’t imagine what he could possibly present that would exonerate him.
Anyway once again craigslist is the go to place for pedophiles to find their next victims and craigslist still refuses to do anything about it. I don’t ever remember the newspaper classifieds being used for child rape back in the day.
As a continuity crossover reboot crisis Convergence felt kind of underwhelming. It didn’t pack the gravitas of a Flashpoint or Crisis on Infinite Earths. It felt just kind of ‘meh’. While it was nice to see characters from various pre-New 52 universes it felt like you had to know around 40 years of DC Comics’ history to get all the references and plot points. I felt bad for younger readers who may not have known a good majority of these characters.
The one good thing about Convergence though, as I mentioned in my first impressions, is that the concept behind the New 52 reboot was a sound one. A lot of characters from before the New 52 did feel old and out of date and a fresh new take was needed. The problem was that the New 52 didn’t have a lot of good stories for these new youthful heroes and the new DC You doesn’t appear to be too promising yet.
Back in September of last year 37-year-old Catherine Goins was arrested for allegedly shooting and killing 30-year-old Natalia Roberts. Reports say that Goins lured Ms. Roberts to her ex-boyfriend’s home in Ringold, Georgia, claiming she was selling baby clothes. Goins is then said to have shot Ms. Roberts in the back of the head with the intention of stealing Roberts’ 3-week-old child to pass off as her own. Goins had told her ex that she was pregnant and when he found out that she wasn’t she supposedly came up with this plan. She even allegedly tried telling police that she shot an intruder.
Let’s stop here for a moment. In the history of forever has this plan ever worked? It seems like whenever some crazy woman claims to be pregnant and tries to steal a baby, often times from the mother’s womb, that they’re always caught. It boggles my mind just thinking how selfish a person must be to go to such great lengths for attention no matter the consequences.
Before we get started let me preface this post by saying that so far only The Arab American News is reporting that this was a ‘craigslist killing’. I’m not saying that you should doubt the veracity of the article, I’m just saying that they’re the only ones making the craigslist connection so far.
Anyway, on May 17th 24-year-old Hassan Deaibes of Dearborn, Michigan was shot and killed after responding to a craigslist ad for motorcycle parts in Detroit. The ‘sellers’ changed the location of the deal once Hassan and his uncle arrived at the meeting place. The suspects allegedly robbed Hassan of his money before one of the suspects shot Hassan in the head. Hos uncle was driving and was uninjured and was able to flag down an ambulance, Unfortunately Hassan succumbed to his injuries the next day.
Three suspects have been arrested but have not been named yet. Two of the suspects are only 16 while the third suspect is in his 20s. No word yet on which one was the gunman who fired the fatal shot.
My prayers and condolences go out to the friends and family of Hassan Deaibes.
Personally, as I’m sure you know, I would never recommend doing any kind of business on craigslist. However of you insist on not heeding my warning if anything feels wrong at anytime during a craigslist transaction get out of there as quickly as possible or don’t even go to the meeting. Also many police departments are offering their parking lot as supposed safe zones to make these transactions.
Ever since To Catch A Predator started airing I would love the excuses the pervs would use when they got caught. The most popular one was “I was just going to hang out.” Right, a middle-aged man who IM’d an underage girl all about sex who brought condoms and wine coolers was just there to hang out. So I kind of took interest in what 21-year-old Matthew Kaius Christianson of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota had to say when he was arrested.
In this case the girl was real and eventually the police got involved. Christianson allegedly told police he would solicit girls on MeetMe to “build up his confidence when talking with females.” Building your confidence is one thing but asking a minor for a mouth hug is definitely another. He’s probably one of these guys who can’t even approach a women in meat space but is probably a total misogynistic assclown online who calls women ‘bb’ and says things like ‘tits or GTFO’. Unfortunately the internet is just a breeding ground for cretins like this and MeetMe seems to be ground zero.
For some reason a lot of people care more about what happens to animals than what happens to people. For example more people hate football player Michael Vick for dog fighting than those who hate Aaron Hernandez who actually murdered a man in cold blood. So since a lot of you don’t really care about the children being abused on craigslist this story is for you.
This is nothing new for craigslist and has been going on for a very long time. So if you don’t care that craigslist has become a haven for predators looking to prey on children know that it’s also the place where dogs are being constantly violated.
Yes, I definitely recommend watching this series. Right now it’s tie for my show of the year with Daredevil. All my fears of Barry Allen being played by someone so young were dissuaded throughout the season as Grant Gustin did a great job of portraying a young Barry Allen haunted by the murder of his mother by the man in yellow. Tom Cavanagh was great in the role of the smarmy pretentious Harrison Wells. He’s an underrated actor who was great in this season. However, what I really want to talk about is the season finale. more “Trench reviews Season 1 of The Flash”
Real life Peter Griffin over there is Daniel Louis Symons of Chesaning, Michigan. He’s accused of allegedly kidnapping a woman he met on craigslist. Michigan State Police say that Symons posted an ad looking for a submissive partner. Remember that part because it becomes important later. A 22-year-old woman responded to the ad however, she claims that Symons was not the man in the picture he allegedly sent. Symons is said to have forced the woman into his car.
Police pulled Symons over because his car was swerving. The victim was kicking around in the back seat causing Symons to get pulled over on suspicion of DUI. Officers found the victim in the back seat with a bag over her head, duct tape on her mouth and her hands bound by zip ties.
For those of you unfamiliar the term submissive, or sub, is used by people in the BDSM lifestyle. Some in the BDSM community might say that this was not a kidnapping at all but some kind of sexual role play. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen this used as a defense. Here’s the problem with that supposition. Symons allegedly misrepresented himself to his victim. That leads me to believe that this incident was not consensual.
Now there was a previous incident where a woman claimed she was kidnapped and raped by a man she met of craigslist but that turned out to be false as that woman admitted to indulging in a rape fantasy. Could that also be the case here? Possibly, and if it is I’ll post as much however, until that happens, and I don’t think it will, yet another craigslist predator has been taken off the streets.
Backpage has its share of murderers but due to the lack of alliteration they don’t always get the attention of their craigslist killing cohorts. For example, take the story of 19-year-old Brandy Carroll. Her services were ordered off of Backpage by 38-year-old Andre Robinson of Beloit, Wisconsin. Robinson would be her final client as he’s been charged with allegedly murdering Ms. Carroll.
Police haven’t released all the details of the murder except to say that at some point in the night Ms. Carroll fell down the basement stairs in Robinson’s home. Reports also say that she also suffered from stab wounds and blunt force trauma although a cause of death has not been released beyond ‘homicidal violence’.
Sites like Backpage are obviously not making it safer for prostitutes as many would claim. It’s just allowing the murderers to kill their victims in more comfortable surroundings.
