22-year-old Robert Polk of St. Louis has been missing since Saturday after leaving to go buy a car on craigslist. Mr. Polk had previously served in the Army and had recently saved up enough money to buy a new car.

Polk was last seen around 7 p.m. on October 3, wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

Anyone with information on Robert Polk’s whereabouts should contact the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department at 314-444-5309.

Unfortunately this is a recurring event. Just this year Taylor S. Clark of Illinois and Bud and June Runion of Georgia were both killed after going to buy cars on craigslist. Criminals will either advertise a popular car at a lower than usual price or advertise a classic car that is hard to come by. Usually the goal is robbery, insisting that the buyer brings cash, but occasionally it ends up in murder.

I pray to God that is not the case here.
