Minn. craigslist creeper gets only 3 days in jail

I originally posted about 58-year-old Donald Tisdale of Albertville, Minnesota, here. He was arrested earlier this year for soliciting sex from an underage girl on craigslist after posting an ad that said “Who’s playing hooky from school today???” Of course it was law enforcement that was actually responding to the ad.

Back in July, Tisdale was sentenced to only three days in jail and three years probation. The reasoning behind such a light sentence?

“If you don’t have any prior criminal background and you’re into something like this, many times you’ll be cut a break,” said criminal defense attorney Joe Tamburino. “If there was actually a juvenile involved and any type of touching he would be in much more trouble.”

That’s ludicrous. Just because someone doesn’t have a criminal record doesn’t mean this is their first time soliciting sex from kids. Not to mention that we have to wait for one of these scumbags to actually violate a child before they can receive real jail time. These are the kind of criminals that need to be kept behind bars and not on some registry that doesn’t discourage anything. When it comes to sex offenders, especially when children are involved, there should be no deals. I would have no problem paying extra taxes to keep these cretins behind bars longer.

  1. Tisdale had the money to pay the right lawyer. The lack of a prior record doesn’t diminish Tisdale’s intent to have sex with a minor.
