Facebook pictures of kids posted on child porn site

Back in the early days of the internet, if you can consider 1997 the early days, people didn’t generally share their personal information online. That’s one of the reasons I still use a pen name after all these years. Back then you’d be hard pressed to find a lot of people posting pictures of their kids online. Somehow between now and the advent of social media we’ve lost that need to keep our private information private. We post the most mundane facets of our lives on placed like Twitter and Facebook without realizing how that information can be used against us or our children.

For example in Cork County, Ireland, a number of images of children that were posted on Facebook have ended up on a child porn website. The images posted on Facebook were not pornographic however that doesn’t stop the pedos from using Photoshop to manipulate the images until they are.

While I understand that this is an extreme case just remember that once a picture is out on the internet, even on Facebook, it’s near impossible to ever get back and they can be used from everything to your image used in ads to identity theft and beyond.
