20-year-old Kyle Quentin Jackson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, is a grade-A scumbag of the highest order, ‘allegedly’. Jackson is accused of posing as a 14-year-old girl on the mobile messaging app Kik and got an 11-year-old boy using the app to send him explicit photos of himself. Unfortunately it didn’t end there, Jackson is also accused of coercing the boy into performing a sex act on the victim’s 9-year-old brother. As is almost the norm in these cases Jackson is said to have threatened to expose the pictures of the boy to all his friends and social networking contacts. The victims’ father found the videos on the kids’ iPad after it was too late and he notified police.
As evidenced by this story apps like Kik aren’t just used on smartphones but can be used on tablets as well and all they need is a wifi connection. No 11-year-old boy needs to be on Kik. Not only is Kik rated Teen in the Android Play Store but its own terms of service state that no user should be under the age of 13. Let us also not forget about all the sex offenders and pedophiles that inhabit Kik’s network.
