Ky. man charged with stabbing craigslist roommate to death
Paul Ellefritz Jr.

30-year-old Paul Ellefritz Jr. of Radcliff, Kentucky, has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of his roommate, 48-year-old Kimberly Mayberger. Mayberger had been living with Ellefritz for three months after he responded to her craigslist ad looking for a roommate. She was reported missing on the 11th, but her body was not found until the 14th.

Ellefritz had been initially arrested after he was caught shoplifting a bag of dog food at Wal-Mart. While police were questioning him over that he allegedly tried to escape the interrogation room. Ellefritz is said to have left the body in his residence while he went about his business for the weekend.

I hate to argue semantics because it can seem disrespectful to the victim. However, if someone were to ask me if this was a typical ‘craigslist killing’, like there is such a thing, I would have to say no. Unless Ellefritz was planning on killing her three months after he responded to her ad. So far no motive has been given for the murder but the investigation is still open.

Although Radcliff police have made an arrest in this case, they are still asking anyone with information to contact them at (270) 351-TIPS.

This is far from the first craigslist roommate killing that I’ve posted about. While I may not consider in a craigslist killing in the ‘normal’ sense, it’s happening frequent enough to cause concern. If you’re looking for a roommate or a place to crash I would not recommend using craigslist, but you probably knew that already.
