Crime News That Matters

Defense contractor convicted of being a craigslist creeper in Guam

Michael Louis McCarron was a defense contractor working in Guam when he was arrested in 2017 for soliciting sex from an NCIS investigator posing as a 13-year-old girl on craigslist. Earlier today, McCarron was convicted of attempted enticement of a minor and attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor. Not surprisingly since McCarron sent an explicit video of himself to who he thought was a 13-year-old girl with the message of “sharing is caring” He also told the ‘girl’: “You sound very innocent. Innocence should never be wasted. Treasure it always.”

During the trial, his defense argued that since there was no actual girl involved, no crime was committed completely disregarding established precedence of the concept of police stings. This is a common argument often used by those caught in craigslist stings like this. They try and justify their reprehensible actions like this by trying to deflect the conversation away from their predatory intent. Again, this is not entrapment since McCarron responded to the ad and wasn’t propositioned by the NCIS agent posing as the girl.

Sentencing is set for January of 2020.
