The Albuquerque police have been busy lately. This time they’ve arrested 33-year-old Heather Brannon and have charged her with human trafficking. Police say that she was turning out at least two women on the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com.
When the two women were arrested during a sting they allegedly said that Brannon forced them into prostitution because of a ‘debt’. This is a typical trick of traffickers. A lot of times they’ll bring illegals into the country and then make them work off their ‘debt’ by making them work as prostitutes but the debt never seems to ever be paid off.
This also goes to show a few things. The first is not all human traffickers are male. The next shows that the consenting adults phrase is just a myth. And lastly that Village Voice Media isn’t doing crap to combat trafficking on backpage.
Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico say that EMT and ambulance driver Christopher White replied to an ad on backpage where he agreed to have sex with a 15-year-old girl for $300. Luckily the 15-year-old girl was actually the Albuquerque police.
“He has a predator-type mentality. For the police or community itself it’s very concerning,” Albuquerque police Commander Doug West said.
“He described the specifics of what he wanted to do, and said he was willing to pay a certain amount of money for this,” West said.
“It seems like there’s such a strong urge for these predators to have sex with an underage female,” West said. “The next time you see an ad for prostitution you might want to think twice because it could be us.”
Like I said before it seems that the creepers know that the Village Voice Media owned backpage is now the go to place to get underage girls. Yet backpage and VVM still says it’s a free speech issue.
Police in Albuquerque, New Mexico say that 22-year-old Kendel Morrel (or Kendel Merrell) lured a 17-year-old girl into prostitution over Facebook.
The girl posted on her Facebook that she needed a job. Morrel is said to have offered her a job selling hip-hop magazines and CDs. Instead Morrel forced her to have sex with him and then turned her out for $150 a pop which she was ‘allowed’ to keep $50. He advertised her on backpage.com and tried to sell her for $3000 to other traffickers. Luckily the girl was able to escape and contact her family.
This reminds me of the modeling scam except this one is more realistic which makes it even more dangerous.
Facebook used to be where you only accepted your real life friends as your Facebook friends. But now it’s turning more into MySpace where people will accept anybody as their friend. Parents, please monitor your kids’ Facebook to see who they’re accepting as friends or someone you love may be traded away for money.
It seems that backpage’s ‘safeguards’ to keep children from being trafficked on their site is about as effective as the proverbial screen door in the submarine. And they have the gall to say that their ads are protected by the first amendment. Who is trying to protect these girls’ right to live free? Not backpage obviously.
32-year-old Dante Mckay was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico for allegedly pimping out a 17-year-old girl on the pages of the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com.
Luckily a concerned citizen had seen the pair and noticed something was wrong and contacted the National Human Trafficking hotline(1-888-3737-888) who in turn contacted law enforcement who set up Mckay for the arrest.
How are those millions of dollars that you’re spending on keeping illegal ads off your site working for you backpage? Apparently not too well. You’re not fooling anyone. Those millions are probably being spent to see how VVM can cover their ass while raking in even more millions of the ad fees.
In case you didn’t know Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico is where the U.S. government keeps its most closely guarded nuclear secrets, among other tings. So who has been entrusted to guard these secrets? Well it would be unfair of be to condemn the Los Alamos guards as a whole because of one idiot but said idiot is accused of pimping his wife out on craigslist.
One of the men entrusted to guard national secrets is Christopher Anaya of Albuquerque. He allegedly pimped out his wife on craigslist in order to help pay the bills. Here’s a thought Barney, why don’t you get a 2nd job instead of pimping out your wife. Or how about selling some of your toys that I bet you have like a big screen plasma TV. Or are you just one of those freaks that likes to degrade his wife?
