Update on Zemmer Middle School shooting plot

Update on Zemmer Middle School shooting plot

Zemmer Middle School

Earlier this week there was a hearing in regards to the alleged school shooting plot targeting Zemmer Middle School in Lapeer, Michigan. The defense for the three teen suspects tried getting the charges thrown out, however, the judge ruled there was substantial evidence for a trial to be held.

One of the defense attorneys seems to be treading on familiar grounds

“These kids were desensitized to the reality of the things they were talking about, Columbine and school shootings,” said attorney, Matthew Norwood. “In the case of XXXXX, he was looking to get a reaction … there were no steps taken. It was just talk … Prosecutors are going off of pure paranoia.”

Pure paranoia, huh? Well, in addition to their own version of the Basement Tapes, where they refer to themselves as gods, further evidence was revealed about their alleged intentions. Police found the following ‘story’ on one of the suspect’s cell phones.

“My name is XXXXX and everyone at school thought I was kidding, that I wouldn’t shoot it up, or bring the guns to school,” Lapeer County Detective Bob Wells read from the story messaged from XXXXX to XXXXX on social media. “They always bullied me and thought I was kidding, just like the kids at Columbine.”

Except there’s no evidence to show the Columbine cowards were bullied. More misinformed cretins who turn to violence when things don’t go their way.

The suspects have been released on over $100K bond each and have been ordered to stay off the internet. It’s also been ordered that guns need to be removed from all the households and it’s recommended all three suspects undergo counseling. Considering the three have been charged as adults and are facing life sentences, maybe they should have received counseling earlier.

UPDATE 1/21/2018: Back in November, two of the suspects have pleaded guilty to making a false terrorist threat and using a computer to commit a crime. They are set to be sentenced on the 29th. The third suspect is set to enter a similar plea later this week.

Two school shooting plots thwarted in Oklahoma

Two school shooting plots were said to have been thwarted in the state of Oklahoma recently. While the alleged plots were unrelated, the two targeted schools were only an hour apart from each other.

The less serious of the two plots was discovered at Sequoyah Public Schools in Rogers County. That plot was said to have involved three eighth-graders who were supposedly upset one of them got detention. According to what information has been released, I don’t think the plot was very serious.

The Sheriff’s Office says it had gotten to the point of the boys making plans for one to get a gun, one to get a bow, and to get on top of the school.

The students were released to the custody of their parents and I haven’t heard of any charges being filed as of yet.

While the threat may not have been credible, it does show how a number of kids who even think about resorting to violence are blaming their own failures on others. This is a trait, in my opinion, that is very common among school shooters and plotters.

The more serious plot was uncovered at Locust Grove High School in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. In that plot, three 15-year-olds were plotting an attack against the school, claiming one of the three had allegedly been bullied. Or are they just using that as an excuse? To me, the trio sound like a bunch of columbiners who were just looking for an excuse to commit a school shooting.

A Facebook post from one of the three students shows the Columbine shooters; another post reads ‘Better run faster than my bullets.”

If you’re not familiar with that particular quote, it’s a lyric from the song “Pumped Up Kicks” by the band Foster The People. The song references a fictional school shooting.

As usual, the columbiners got it wrong. The song isn’t glorifying a school shooting, but according to the band, Mark Foster wrote the song because he wanted to make people more aware of the mental illness that goes unrecognized in a lot of today’s teens.

This was more than just idol worship and posting to social media. The suspects were said to have gone to the school while it was out of session to study the exits and entrances. The trio was also allegedly actively pursuing weapons. They’re all currently in juvenile detention claiming their plot was just a prank. Yeah, never heard that one before.

Again I say to parents, know what your kids are posting on social media. You might find out your kid needs more help than they’re letting on.

Defense attorney calls middle school shooting plot a ‘fairy tale’

(Story broke 8/2/2017)

I originally posted about the alleged school shooting plot against Zemmer Middle School in Lapeer, Michigan, here. If you’ll recall, two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old were arrested and charged as adults for allegedly plotting an attack against the school. The teens made a video similar to the Columbine Basement Tapes, where these teens proclaimed themselves gods while threatening violence against the school.

A couple of weeks ago, they appeared in court where one of their defense attorneys claimed the plot was merely the wild imagination of zealous police investigators and referred to the plot as a fairy tale of teen angst expressed in fiction. So I guess the video Cho Seung-Hui sent to a national news channel was just angsty fiction before he killed dozens at Virginia Tech. Or the videos Alvaro Castillo sent to a local news station after killing his father was just a fairy tale. That’s not even mentioning all the videos made by other potential school shooters who were stooped before they could carry out their plans.

When these kids live in homes with guns and proclaim themselves gods who will have followers after they kill as many as they can, isn’t angsty teen fiction or a fairy tale. It’s evidence that shows how much violence these kids could be capable of.

(Story broke 5/10/2017)

Back in February, three teens, two aged 14 and one 15, were arrested for allegedly plotting an attack against Zemmer Middle School in Lapeer, Michigan. Back in May, the trio appeared in court where a video made by the teens was played that was heavily influenced by the so-called ‘Basement Tapes’ from Columbine. If you’re familiar with the history of Columbine, this won’t be anything new.

Please forgive the copious copying and pasting.

In the film, XXXXX and XXXXX, 14, sat side-by-side in armchairs in XXXXX’s parents’ basement, smoking while describing the alleged plot to “shoot up” Zemmer Middle School and their plans to commit suicide after.

“It’ll be nerve-wracking, alright, but it’ll be the best moment of our lives,” said XXXXX.

“Our short lives,” XXXXX added.

“I can’t [expletive] wait,” said XXXXX.

Calling themselves “gods” and saying that they intended to “bring justice to the world, one school at a time,” the two teens listed off intended targets in the shooting, throwing their heads back and laughing to themselves.

“I thought I could I could trust someone not to [expletive] walk all over me for almost a year now, it’s [expletive],” XXXXX said in the video. “As if my life wasn’t bad enough. But you know what? It won’t matter.”

“We’re going to use a sawed-off machine gun, some pistols,” said XXXXX.

“Gonna be the best [expletive] of my life,” said XXXXX.

The pair claimed in the video that the attack would leave them with “followers” who would watch over from the afterlife.

“You know what, XXXXX, we’re gonna be in heaven, resting in peace, watching over our followers for generations to come. We will have followers, trust me … till this world is brought to justice one school at a time.”

“If not several,” said XXXXX.

In the video, the two also discussed the Columbine shooters and “Zero Hour,” the documentary on the 1999 mass murder at Columbine High School in Colorado, where two students fatally shot 13, injured 21 and subsequently committed suicide.

“We’ll be resting with them,” XXXXX said in the video, laughing.

As usual, I’m not naming these kids because that’s the kind of attention they crave with this kind of behavior.

As far as the video is concerned, it makes me laugh. These kids are in middle school and consider themselves gods? Please, you’re far from gods, you’re not even acolytes. You’re just another group of plebeians who think they’re being edgy by emulating the Columbine cowards Harris and Klebold. You’re not the first and sadly, I’ll doubt you’ll be the last. You know nothing about the real world and obviously have little to no parental guidance in your lives.

Speaking of parental guidance, guns were kept in two of the homes by parents, but by all accounts the weapons were secured. However, that doesn’t mean that any security measure couldn’t have been circumvented by the teens. It wouldn’t have been the first time a kid has gotten hold of the key to the gun locker and took the weapon to a school.

Thankfully, the trio have been charged as adults and are looking at life sentences on attempted murder charges. Instead of gods, they’ll just be numbers, collect-calling their parents for commissary money.

Columbiner kills three in Pennsylvania supermarket before killing self

Columbiner kills three in Pennsylvania supermarket before killing self

(Story broke 6/8/2017)

24-year-old Randy Stair, of Dallas, Pennsylvania, shot and killed three of his coworkers at a supermarket in Tunkhannock before taking the coward’s way out. Stair was a columbiner, as he made a 42 minute film that was said to include homages to the Columbine cowards Harris and Klebold. Like most columbiners turned shooters, he was also a loser who blamed his problems on everyone else…

“I’ve been stepped on my whole life; not anymore. …I’ve had enough of this putrid planet and I’m going to leave my mark,” he wrote in the film.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Stair also claimed to be transgender, saying he was a woman trapped in a man’s body. I’m aware of the struggles transgender people face in trying to establish their true identities. However, that should not excuse the fact that this coward taking the lives of three innocent people just so he could leave his ‘mark’.

As far as leaving a mark, I don’t even remember if this broke the national news last week. I don’t watch a lot of TV news and I’m actively avoiding Facebook as much as I can. If I didn’t have an email alert registered for the word ‘Columbine’ then I probably wouldn’t have even heard of this shooting. His name will be forgotten in time, lost among the toxic throng of mass shooters that this country unfortunately produces on a continuous basis.

The names you should remember are 63-year-old Terry Sterling, 26-year-old Victoria Brong, and 47-year-old Brian Hayes. These are the people whose lives were selfishly cut short by a coward just for trying to make a living.

Being a columbiner is not a phase, it’s a sickness. If you know someone who shows the characteristics of being one of these failures, tell someone. Too often their so-called phase turns into real word violence.

Two separate students make school shooting threats against same school in Texas

Two separate students make school shooting threats against same school in Texas

(Story broke 4/20/2017)

Two separate students at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood, Texas, were arrested for allegedly making unrelated threats to shoot up the school on the anniversary of Columbine. Both threats were made on the picture sharing app Snapchat. A freshman is said to have posted a video where he was pointing a gun at the camera and warned people not to show up to school on April 20th. A sophomore is said to have posted a picture of the butt of a gun with the message that he was doing this for ‘The heroes of Columbine’.

The fact that two separate threats were made on the same day at the same school scares the hell out of me. Both of these kids are probably what are known as columbiners. These are kids, usually, who for some reason or another identify with the Columbine shooters, usually because of falsehoods that have become legend since the Columbine shooting. Friendswood seems to have an inordinate amount of these columbiners as two were arrested back in December for bringing guns to Friendswood High School.

As of May 9th, the freshman had been released under a plea deal while the sophomore had his case continued.

It’s not just sexual predators that parents have to be on the look out for with their kids’ social media accounts. While you may not want to admit it, there’s a chance your child could be on the path toward criminal behavior. Any kind of idolizing or sympathy toward school shooters is not just a phase, it’s a loud cry that they are in immediate need of mental healthcare.

Headmaster in The Alexis de Tocqueville High School shooting received France’s highest honor

Headmaster in The Alexis de Tocqueville High School shooting received France's highest honor

Herve Pizzinat was the Headmaster at Alexis de Tocqueville High School in Grasse, France, who tried to reason with shooter Kylian Barbey while suffering from a bullet wound. Mr. Pizzinat was awarded the Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest honor, for his actions. The Legion d’Honneur was established by Napoleon in 1802. The newly honored Headmaster returned to the school earlier this week.

Meanwhile, it seems the shooter’s parents did have concerns about their child’s behavior…

The teenager’s parents had previously expressed concern about his attraction to weapons and violent video games, however a psychiatrist said he was “quite normal and there was no need to worry”, his lawyer told journalists.

Before I get to my main point, as a gamer I wanted to point out that violent video games do not make someone a killer, however, a number of school shooters have been avid fans of the first person shooter genre.

My questions are, how much were the parents aware that their son was a columbiner, and if they were aware did they make this obsession known to the psychiatrist? If they did make it known, did the psychiatrist say that was normal? Because I don’t care what country you’re in, having a form of hero-worship for a pair of cowardly mass murderers is not normal under any circumstance.

Additional details released in Maryland girl’s school shooting plot

Additional details released in Maryland girl's school shooting plot

Evidence seized in alleged Catoctin High plot

18-year-old Nicole Cevario was released from the hospital today and was arrested and held without bond for her alleged plot to attack Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Maryland.

Police have also released additional details from her journal, including the receipt for the shotgun she purchased. In Maryland, you only need to be 18 to purchase and own a shotgun, and there are no background checks. In short, the weapon was legally purchased. While I don’t believe that more gun control would prevent school shootings selling a shotgun to a high school student seems wrong in this day and age.

What’s even more disturbing than that, were the passages from her journal that were released. It seemed she really was set on being the first female school shooter…

“By definition, a school shooter has to be attending the school they target at the time of the attack, and I haven’t found a single woman who has fulfilled that criteria,” the passage reads in part, according to Nicole Ann Cevario’s charging documents. “Guess it’s meant to be me. Yes, I know it’s meant to be me. This is what I’m supposed to do. Maybe not with my life, but with my death.”

While she may have been the first female school shooter if she had succeeded, her reasoning seemed to be the same old song and dance of every other shooter and would-be shooter.

“… It just really hit me this afternoon,” Cevario wrote in one passage, according to the charging documents. “I realize [sic] I was going to die surrounded by people I hate in a building I hate.”

In my opinion, it seems that Cevario was just another in a long list of cretins who thought they were better than everyone else for whatever reason, and the only way to solve their own inadequacies was through violence. To put it bluntly, she’d be far from first on a list of cowardly losers.

UPDATE 4/21/2017: Cevario has been indicted on charges of possession of explosive material and incendiary material, both with the intent to create a destructive device.

UPDATE 7/24/2017: This past Thursday, Cevario was ruled competent to stand trial.

Evidence seized in alleged Catoctin High plot

In a follow-up to my initial post on alleged school shooting plotter Nicole Cevario, more details have been released about her supposed motivation in wanting to attack Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Maryland.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office released details of Cevario’s journal, in which she reportedly said that she would be the first female mass shooter. In my previous post, I pondered if Cevario was a columbiner, which means someone who is a fan of school shootings. Back in the day, I used to call them mutants since they are a mutation of society, but the internet has dubbed them as columbiners which is a more press friendly word. As it turns out, she was more than likely a columbiner as she spoke of both Columbine and Sandy Hook in her journal, allegedly detailing the ‘mistakes’ those cowards made.

One ‘mistake’ she made was waiting until she was 18 before being arrested. In most of these cases it’s debated if the suspect should be tried as an adult. If found guilty she will probably be sentenced to a lengthy prison stay. My only worry is that she will go on to inspire other females to pick up where she was thwarted. As I’ve said before, females tend to be accomplices rather than shooters themselves. Here’s hoping we don’t start seeing a reversal in that trend.

The Alexis de Tocqueville High School shooting in France

The Tocqueville High School shooting in France

I’m sorry I’m over a week late in posting about this, I’ve been dealing with some minor inconveniences that have put my non-existent posting schedule into a backlog. Then again, when it comes to stories like these, it’s always better to wait until getting all the facts. Maybe not nine days of waiting, but here we are. So let’s get on to it.

On March 16th, 16-year-old Kylian Barbey stormed into Alexis de Tocqueville High School, or as it’s locally called, the Alexis de Tocqueville lycee, with a shotgun and ‘training’ grenades. (Flash-bangs maybe?) Barbey is accused of injuring three people at the school, including the Headmaster, Herve Pizzinat. Mr. Pizzinat is said to have not been the intended target, while two other students were struck by ricocheting bullets. Barbey reportedly told Mr. Pizzinat that “It’s not you I’m after.” The wounded Headmaster was said to have tried to talk Barbey into disarming even after being shot. Barbey was said to have been quickly apprehended by police. One witness had said that Barbey “seemed to be a student and not very big. He shot in the air and ran away.” That seems about right, a coward acting in a cowardly way. One witness said that Barbey had been allegedly bullied by classmates, but then the question remains, was he bullied because he was already an antisocial school shooting fanatic? While there were reports of a second gunman, as there usually are, this turned out to be untrue.

What comes as no surprise to me is that Barbey was a columbiner, or a school shooting fanboy for lack of a better word. Barbey is so much of a columbiner, that he’s almost a parody of what people think school shooters are. Reports say that he changed his name to Killian on his Facebook page and that on his Facebook page he had a picture inspired by the crass video game Hatred. On his YouTube page he only had a video of the movie Zero Day, which is a ‘found footage’ movie about a fictional school shooting. While it’s actually a good movie, it’s also become a hit among the cult-like columbiners. He is also said to have subscribed to the YouTube channel of Marilyn Manson. Manson was incorrectly blamed for having some type of influence on the Columbine shooting. I’m surprised he wasn’t subscribed to Rammstein’s YouTube channel since that was who the Columbine cowards actually listened to. He also had a playlist on Youtube entitled ‘Columbine’ that included saved videos about US school shootings. You might be surprised about how many of them are on YouTube, but that’s a rant for another day, especially considering YouTube’s latest controversy about hate speech and advertising, but I digress.

A day after the shooting, both Barbey’s best friend and his friend’s brother were arrested for allegedly assisting Barbey. The 17-year-old friend was also said to have been a columbiner. The friend was said to have sent a letter to “an American prisoner in the state of Ohio who is serving a sentence for committing three murders at a high school.” It’s not hard to surmise that they must be talking about T.J. Lane, who killed three students during a shooting spree at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio. After the shooting in Ohio, Lane amassed a number of his own misguided followers.

The guns used in the shooting were said to have belonged to his parents and grandparents which allows me to bring up one of my usual points. While Barbey’s father is described as a right-wing municipal councilor in the town of Grasse, I’m more curious to know who was actually checking up on his son’s behavior as it doesn’t appear to be something that just started overnight.

What also gets me is that this punk is only 16-years-old. He wasn’t even alive when Columbine happened, yet he still encapsulates the same sense of selfish entitlement that his cowardly heroes imbue.

Now that I’m tuned in to the story, I’ll be posting more updates as they become available and as time allows.
