According to Blabbermouth the former frontwoman of Warlock, the ever amazing Doro Pesch, will be subbing for Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens on some dates of the European tour for Dio Disciples. Dio Disciples is the band formed in the wake of Ronnie James Dio’s death in order to perform the music that he was working on at the time of his death.
A lot of people will probably grouse at this saying that a chick can’t sing Dio songs but I disagree. If any woman was to carry the legacy of Ronnie James Dio it would be Doro Pesch. As evidence I submit her cover of Egypt (The Chains Are On).
I think the master would approve. All hail his name. m/
Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens
Previously I posted about how that Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens was going to record previously unrecorded material from the late metal god Ronnie James Dio
. And I basically had a metalgasm when that was announced.
Now I’ve had another one on the news that Ripper will be fronting a band along with Rudy Sarzo, Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Scott Warren and additional vocalist Toby Jepson called Dio Disciples.
Commented Ronnie James Dio’s widow and manager Wendy: “There will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the DIO DISCIPLES.
Ronnie will never be able to be replaced but in my opinion Ripper is the next best thing and has kind of led a career in metal similar to Ronnie’s. Judas Priest was his Black Sabbath, Iced Earth was his Rainbow and Beyond Fear is his Dio.
