Eduardo Marmolejo pleads guilty to teacher’s stabbing death

Teen pleads guilty, apologizes for stabbing Tenn. school principal to death:

In August of 2011 a then 16 or 17-year-old (depending on the source) Eduardo Marmolejo stabbed Suzette York, his teacher and principal, to death in a classroom at the Memphis Junior Academy in Tennessee. This was no mere stabbing though. This was a cold and calculated murder. Marmolejo studied up on martial arts and close combat techniques prior to committing the murder. Unfortunately he was a good study because this is how the murder was described by the Commercial Appeal back in 2011…

On the day of the attack, he slipped his hands into gloves and first stabbed York’s windpipe so she couldn’t scream for help, prosecutor Reginald Henderson said. York was stabbed eight more times, in her face, chin and neck. Marmolejo then ran to the bathroom, where he washed away York’s blood, changed clothes and flushed the knife and gloves down the toilet, police said.

Marmolejo was charged as an adult.

All that I’ve ever been able to determine about the motive was that Marmolejo had some kind of school privilege taken away by Ms. York. I’ve never heard what that privilege might have been.

This past week a now 18-year-old Marmolejo pleaded guilty to the murder under a plea deal that sees him go to prison for 35 years. Supposedly he’s sorry…

“I apologize for my bad behavior,” said Eduardo Marmolejo, 18, after accepting a plea that will send him to prison for 35 years without the possibility of parole.

“It was wrong what I did,” Marmolejo during the hearing, which was broadcast by local media.

“I should not have done it, because it not only hurt Ms. York, but her family and her friends, her husband, and it not only hurt me, but my family and friends and people who take their kids to school,” he said, reading from a prepared statement.

“There is already too much violence in the world, especially in the schools. Instead of thinking and trying to help make things better, I made it worse,” he continued.

And guess what else…

The statement went on to say he was a changed person and that he had repented “and given my life to Jesus.”

Hallelujah, right.

I’m always amazed how these scumbags find religion after they’ve killed someone.

Well there’s an old cliché about prison and Jesus that goes something like “Your soul better belong to Jesus because your ass belongs to Bubba.”

Teen to be tried as adult in stabbing death of principal at East Memphis private school:

Not only has 17-year-old Eduardo Marmolejo been charged as an adult in the stabbing death of Suzette York, his teacher and principal, but more information has been released about the crime as well.

First off I kind of scoffed when I read that Marmolejo studied up on knife combat because it seems he used it to his full efficacy.

He’s more than just some selfish spoiled brat, he’s also a stone cold killer. This murder couldn’t have been any more calculated for someone his age. Most teen knife wielding assailants would have gone for center mass rather than the throat.

Speaking of someone his age here’s what happened at his hearing to see if he would be tried as an adult.

Eduardo Marmolejo hasn’t said he regrets the stabbing death of his principal, prosecutors said. But he has lamented that a likely prison stint would put his dream of fatherhood on hold.

The teen laughed when he entered a courtroom for a hearing Wednesday in Shelby County Juvenile Court. During breaks, he smiled and muttered rap lyrics though deputies repeatedly hushed him.

This is definitely someone who has no regard for human life in any way shape or form. I have no problem labeling him as a psychopath.

There’s also been more of a motive released other than he didn’t like her. It seems that Marmolejo had some kind of school privilege revoked by Ms. York last school year. I can’t even imagine what privilege would be worth killing over in such a bloody fashion. I would lay odds on this rather him feeling his manhood was challenged by a woman but that remains to be seen.

Of course the mental illness issue has been brought up. The defense claims that he lives in a fantasy world where he believes he’s a ninja. The prosecution says that Marmolejo is competent enough to assist in his defense but they do say that he has a personality disorder. I expect to see the Asperger’s defense come out during the course of this story.

If you think that he should not be tried as an adult I would love to hear your reasoning behind that and yes I am being sincere.

UPDATE: Prosecutors are keeping mum about the privilege that was taken away stating they don’t want to try the case before its time.

UPDATE 4/9/2012: Marmolejo has pleaded not guilty and a judge has agreed to a defense request for a mental evaluation of Marmolejo.

UPDATE 10/8/12: Marmolejo has been ruled competent to stand trial.

Affidavit Reveals Disturbing Details in Principal’s Stabbing:

I was hoping that the affidavit would reveal the motive behind 17-year-old Eduardo Marmolejo stabbing Memphis Junior Academy principal and teacher Suzette York other than the fact that he didn’t like her. What I did find interesting was this.

Marmolejo said he had spent the night prior to the crime sharpening his knife at home, and that he had researched his planning on the internet, the document stated. Investigators believe books and materials on knife fighting and hand-to-hand combat confiscated from the suspect’s home also played a part in his plan.

Seriously? Did he think he was going to have a West Side Story style knife fight with a teacher? However it does go to show that this was more than likely a premeditated murder. Which leads me to believe that charging him as an adult should be a no-brainer.

Mental Exam Ordered For Teen Suspect In Principal Killing:

17-Year-Old Student on Stabbing Death:

17-year-old Eduardo Marmolejo has been arrested for the stabbing death of Memphis Junior Academy principal and teacher Suzette York.

York’s body was found in a classroom Wednesday morning. Police say that Marmolejo admitted to the crime saying that he killed her because “she made him angry.” Police also say that Marmolejo had been planning the murder since this past May.

No word yet on just how Ms. York made Marmolejo ‘angry’ but I’d lay dollars to donuts that whatever it was is Marmolejo’s own fault.

More on this as details become available and time allows.
