Wellington teen Daniel Petric gets 23 years to life in prison for killing his mother:
You remember Daniel Petric don’t you? He’s the Ohio teen who was convicted of shooting his parents because they wouldn’t let him play the video game Halo 3. His Mother, Susan Petric, died but his father Mark Petric survived. Anyway this week Petric the younger was sentenced to 23 years to life for his actions. Petric cried like a baby during the hearing.
The judge who convicted him actually seems to blame the game. I’m 40 years old. I was part of the first generation of gamers who got their Atari 2600s in the late 70’s. I can’t wait until some of us start holding positions in national politics and judgeships so people will stop blaming the game when obviously it’s the criminal that’s wrong.

Ohio Teen Convicted of Killing Mother Over Video Game:
I originally posted about Daniel Petric here. He’s the 17-year-old from Ohio who shot his parents because they wouldn’t allow him to play the video game Halo 3. His father survived but his mother did not.
The defense tried the age-old but never successful video game defense stating it was Halo that caused Petric to kill his parents. However the judge was buying none of it and convicted Petric in the murder of his mother and shooting of his father.
Will lawyers continue yo use the video game defense? Undoubtedly. The scary part is it only takes one win for that defense to become viable. God help us if that day ever comes.
