Canadian mother accused of pulling a Susan Smith

N.S. mom to go on trial in girl’s killing:

34-year-old Penny Boudreau of Nova Scotia reported her 12-year-old daughter Karissa missing in January of this year. She made an impassioned plea to the public to help find her daughter while police and volunteers searched for her. Boudreau claimed that the two got into an argument and that she left Karissa in the car while she went into the store. She said that when she got back Karissa was gone. They found Karrisa’s body a week later in the LaHave River.

Police have been tight lipped about the autopsy results but I would assume they would show that Karissa was dead before she hit the water.

So the question I pose to my Canadian friends is she the Great White North’s version of Susan Smith?

Thanks to Heather for the tip.
