Police: Couple Smoked Pot With Baby In Car:
In Indianapolis 27-year-old Marshall Chatman and 25-year-old Constance Payne decided to hit the drive through at Arby’s with their 1-year-old in the car. Nothing too suspicious there except that the drive through clerk noticed the distinct smell of weed coming from the car.
Here’s an interesting fact that a police officer told me once. Nothing else in the world smells like marijuana.
Anyway the clerk stalled them telling them to wait for theiir order while police were on their way.
When arrested the pair told police that Chatman had been smoking a ‘cigar’. *cough*blunt*cough*
A loaded handgun was also allegedly found in the car.
And who says weed doesn’t make you stupid. Or are people already stupid because they smoke weed? I guess that’s the chicken and the egg question.
Child Dead, Father Charged With Murder:
Christopher Mitchell of Johnson City, Tenn. has been charged with first degree murder in the death of his two-year-old son, Jacob. Jacob died from a gunshot to the head but Mitchell claims it was an accident. Like that’s supposed to make it better.
Mitchell claims that he kept a loaded handgun in a kitchen cabinet that he knew Jacob had gotten into before. However police aren’t buying that story and it didn’t help that Mitchell gave police a false name and hid the gun. For that Mitchell has also been charged with tampering with evidence and criminal impersonation.
I think I may have to have a separate category just for idiots with guns.
For those who may need to know the rules again here they are.
Don’t keep guns when you have kids in the house.
If you absolutely have to have a gun keep the gun locked and unloaded. You can get trigger locks for cheap.
Thanks to LadyJade for the tip.
Emotional 911 call released in 3-year-old’s shooting death:
Here’s yet another reason why you shouldn’t keep unsecured firearms around children. I really shouldn’t have to explain this one but here we are.
Anyway, 3-year-old Pharell Hinton of Raleigh, NC accidentally shot and killed himself with his father’s 9mm on Christmas Eve. Think about that for a second. As much as some people like to think this happens guns just don’t magically discharge all by themselves. Even if somehow the child was able to work the safety that would mean that the gun had a magazine in it with a chambered round in a house around children, unlocked.
The father, 26-year-old Eric Eugene Hinton, is being held on charges of involuntary manslaughter and is currently on suicide watch.
Last year Hinton was convicted for being a drug dealer which means he shouldn’t have been in possession of a firearm in the first place. He’s been charged for that too.
All together he’s looking at a max of only 9 years behind bars.
