Michael Alexander Abel
Police in Mesa, Arizona, have arrested 24-year-old Michael Alexander Abel for allegedly murdering 32-year-old Austin David Parton. Mr. Parton would buy used Apple products on OfferUp then resell them on eBay. Abel is said top have set up a meeting on OfferUp with his victim. The victim was shot in the back and some of his equipment and car were missing. Police were able to track down Abel through the OfferUp app and a witness identified Abel as the man who placed the ad which lured Parton to his death.
To my recollection this has only been the second OfferUp murder, the first being that of Hesham Kamel of Cleveland back in August. Again, just because some classifieds have moved from websites to mobile apps doesn’t make them any less dangerous. In this day and age, you should always meet a seller or buyer at a police station, a number of which will accommodate such transactions. If the other person can’t meet you there then walk away from the deal. Nothing that is sold online is worth your life.
James Naylor (Naylor? I barely know her.)
Man in Mesa bestiality case cites bad marriage:
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office have done it again. They’ve busted another guy who they say was on craigslist looking to have sex with a dog. Recently they arrested 47-year-old James Naylor of Mesa, Arizona for allegedly looking for a dog to rape.
According to reports Naylor claimed he was only looking for a ‘dog in action’, whatever the hell that means, because his marriage is troubled and he hasn’t had sex in a year. Isn’t that what most normal guys do when they’re in a bad marriage, they look for some strange….dog?
You say what you want about screwed up priorities with the MCSO however it does point out that is a pretty big problem on craigslist. Go to craigslist and search for ‘K9’ and you’ll see what I mean. There’s an entire culture on craigslist that wants to have sex with dogs.
Nothing is sacred or safe on craigslist. I wonder how long it will be before ads for necrophilia are posted on craigslist. Hell, knowing craigslist they probably already have.
UPDATE 10/20/2012: Naylor has pleaded guilty
UPDATE 1/6/2013: Naylor received 18 months probation.

Bruised toddler home alone in locked closet:
Mom who left son in closet advertised herself as an escort:
The lady over there with the curious blemishes on her face is 21-year-old Corinna Davis of Mesa, Arizona.
A West Mesa Justice Court constable was serving an eviction notice on the residence however no one appeared to be home. However the constable found a chair wedged up against a door. when he removed the chair he found a 2-year-old boy on a mattress in the closet.
Davis claims the boy was in there while she ‘worked’. Her work seems to be as an ‘escort’ that advertises on the Village Voice Media owned backpage.com. She must not have been too good at that job since she was being evicted or maybe the money went somewhere else.
Do you think that sore is from meth or the herp?
Woman Accused of Trading Daughter for Gun:
That is 33-year-old Tanya Nareau of Mesa, Arizona. She’s been arrested for allegedly trading her 2-year-old daughter for a gun.
Police received a tip and found the girl at a friend’s house who confirmed that the girl as traded for a gun. Nareau allegedly said that the friend could take better care of the girl and Nareau could not legally buy a gun because she’s banned by law.
I’m guessing that she didn’t need the gun for law abiding purposes and I am assuming that the reason she was banned from owning a gun was from a previous run in with the law.
Since she’s being held in Maricopa County Jail I am sure she is not having a fun time.

Mesa teen in MySpace killing gets 20 years:
I don’t know how I missed this one since it happened last month.
Anyway Hughstan Schlicker, the Mesa, Arizona teen who killed his father with a shotgun when his access to MySpace was cut off, was sentenced to 20 years in prison last month. He was looking at 22 years on the charge of 2nd-degree murder.
Schlicker entered a guilty plea back in May.

Police: Children resorted to eating dog food:
Actually the dog food part turned out to be inaccurate but that still doesn’t change everything else that is said to have happened.
Anyway 20-year-old Mesa, Arizona stripper Samantha Abernathy was arrested for allegedly leaving her 1 and 3-year-old children home alone starting at 2am. Police were called at 7:45 am for reports of the kids running around the apartment complex.
When police arrived they found the kids’ room stained with urine and feces.
The baby daddies didn’t arrive until 10am and stripper mom herself didn’t arrive until 10:45am. She claimed that the she was in Phoenix helping her boyfriend. There is some dispute to what was in the fridge but what is known is that there was little food in the house and there was a lock on the fridge. The dog however did have plenty of food. No word on what kind of dog it was.
Now I’ve known a few strippers in my time and they probably made more in a month than I do in a year. Half of them were very responsible with their money with some of them even sending their own kids to private schools, which I may or may not have helped to fund. The other half were constantly broke where the money was either going up their nose or supporting an unemployed penis.
It seems like that Ms. Abernathy could fall into that second half.
Thanks to Bridget for the tip.
Teen accepts plea in murder of father over MySpace:
I originally posted about Hughstan Schlicker here. He was the 15-year-old boy who killed his father last year in Mesa, Arizona because his father wouldn’t allow him access to MySpace.
Yesterday he pleaded guilty to second degree murder which should give him a sentence of 20-22 years. I’m curious to know why prosecutors didn’t pursue first degree murder charges.
So what if he’s only 16 now. He brutally and cowardly shotgunned his father to death all because he wasn’t allowed to go on MySpace. This kid deserves nothing less than a life sentence.
Dad accused of turning on clothes dryer while son was inside:
19-year-old Jose Rocha of Mesa, Arizona was arrested on child abuse charges. His family members claim that when his 1-year-old son climbed into the clothes dryer to play the family went to get a camera because they thought it was cute. Rocha may have had other ideas as his family said that he turned it on while the boy was inside. Luckily the boy was not seriously injured.
Rocha and the boy’s mother claim that Rocha turned the dryer with his hand. Like that’s so much better.
I remember getting my ass chewed out by my aunt when I was little and I hid in her dryer. It’s never a good idea no matter how cute it is to let your kids inside of any appliance.
Thanks to Tina for the tip.
