Webster School wants to change name to Obama:
A St. Paul elementary school has voted to officially change its name to “Barack and Michelle Obama Service Learning Elementary,” pending approval of the school board.
The name is meant to honor the Obamas’ commitment to service learning.
Again I have to say while I think President Obama is doing a decent job so far he’s only been president for a little over 3 months. He still hasn’t done anything yet. And since when do first ladies get stuff named after then that’s not a rehab center? No offense to the first lady but she hasn’t done anything yet either.
And what the hell kind of name is “Barack and Michelle Obama Service Learning Elementary”? Hell. if you wanted to call it Barack Obama Elementary I might have less of a problem with it.
Opa-Locka Renames Street After Barack Obama:
How fitting is it that on the day Americans take time to reflect on the past presidents of the United States the City of Opa-Locka will honor our current leader.
During a ceremony Monday a section of Perviz Avenue was renamed President Barack Obama Avenue making the city the first in the nation to name a street after the current president.
Again, he hasn’t done anything yet. He could turn out to be more corrupt than Nixon. Get some perspective people.
Actual article, not so much.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar went to the top of the crown with fellow Democrats New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, New Jersey Rep. Albio Siries and New York Rep. Anthony Weiner.
He said a study is underway on whether to open the crown to the public and that the review should be complete in April.
Opening the crown “is very important to me,” said Salazar, but he added that any such plan must include the safety of the public.
No actual mention of President Obama himself. Although I doubt the media will stop using him as a crutch.
Obama Stars in Spider-Man Comic Set on Inauguration Day:
President-elect Barack Obama makes a guest appearance in a special Spider-Man comic that takes place on Inauguration Day.
Barack Obama collected Spider-Man comics as a child, so Marvel Comics wanted to give him a “shout-out back” by featuring him in a bonus story, said Joe Quesada, Marvel’s editor-in-chief.
The comic starts with Spider-Man’s alter-ego Peter Parker taking photographs at the inauguration, before spotting two identical Obamas.
Parker decides “the future president’s gonna need Spider-Man,” and springs into action, using basketball to determine the real Obama and punching out the impostor.
Obama thanks him with a fist-bump.
Is it me or does that sound incredibly racist?
So how long will it be before the chosen one gets his own comic book?
Ala. county passes Obama holiday:
This an actually an old story but I just heard it for the first time last week on NPR.
Perry County in Alabama have declared the 2nd Monday in November Barack Obama Day. It’s going to be a government holiday in the county.
Again I have to say while President-elect Obama’s election victory is historic he still hasn’t done anything worth declaring a holiday for. I honestly hope that he does but to do all these things now is incredibly premature.
While I’m at it what’s the big deal about Mr. Obama quitting smoking. He only smoked at most less than half a pack a day.
I used to smoke a pack of day and I’m trying to quit but you don’t see the New York Times writing articles about me.
All I’m saying is let’s see him actually do something before we nominate him for sainthood.
Obama to Be Sworn in With Lincoln Bible:
So Obama is going to be sworn in using Abraham Lincoln’s Bible. Not a copy of it but the actual Bible Lincoln used when he was sworn in as President in 1861.
I realize that President-elect Obama has an admiration for Lincoln and they were both Illinois Senators but again Obama hasn’t done anything yet that warrants this beatification.
He may turn out to be the greatest U.S. president ever but walk the walk don’t talk the talk.
Web site touts Obama-related sites, activities:
HONOLULU – Criticized for moving slowly to take advantage of a native sons’ election to the presidency, the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau has unveiled a new Web site listing some of the spots President-elect Barack Obama has visited as an adult.
I wonder if it will show where he pinched off a loaf too.
Walking Tour Follows Obama’s Footsteps On Oahu:
If you’re lucky you may get to touch the hem of his garment.
LI school renamed for Barack Obama:
Barack Obama Elementary School or Barack Obama Re-Education Center? The Flava-Aid flows free in Long Island.
South Florida Street Expected To Be Renamed For Obama:
And I’m sure it will be paved with gold.
Why America Feels Like it’s Been Ruled by a Foreign Occupier:
As Obama takes over the wreckage this country is in, one can’t help but feel like something alien to America has been controlling it these past eight years. The wave of emotion that has erupted with the election of Barack Obama reminds me of the Allied victory in France in WWII.
Hyperbole much? Now that I think about it that’s a Nazi correlation which automatically disqualifies you.
Official Seeks to Make Inauguration Day a Holiday:
A Montgomery County school board member is offering a resolution to declare Inauguration Day a holiday in Maryland’s largest school system, against the recommendation of Superintendent Jerry D. Weast.
More than 3,000 people have signed an online petition asking Weast to give students and teachers the day off, and the topic has burned up parent-teacher e-mail lists. Montgomery is one of a few large school systems in the Washington area that plan to hold classes when Barack Obama is sworn in as president Jan. 20.
Montgomery school board member Christopher S. Barclay (Silver Spring) introduced a resolution Tuesday to declare a holiday, noting that the inauguration of the first African American president will be “unlike any event that we are likely to witness again in our lifetimes.”
Yes it will be historic. So make the kids go to school and watch it on TV then actually teach something about the Presidency. I know teaching in a public school is a novel concept but then again this will be a historic day.
I’m not surprised that the Obamatons have infected our school systems.
Engineers Create ‘Nanobamas’:
Barack Obama’s image looms larger than ever in the media these days, but now his face has been rendered in 3-D portraits smaller than a grain of salt, using nanotechnology.
The mini-Barack Obamas were made by John Hart, an engineering professor at the University of Michigan, who dubbed them “nanobamas.”
Each nanobama contains about 150 million carbon nanotubes stacked vertically like trees in a forest. A carbon nanotube is an extraordinarily strong hollow cylinder about 1/50,000th the width of a human hair.
Hart created the “nano art” to raise awareness of nanotechnology and science.
You know who else used nanotechnology? The Borg.
