So not only are the Dixie Chicks ashamed of our President but now it looks like they are PETA supporters as well. But it looks like they thought better of it. According to the MSNBC article, the Chicks paid $10,000 to PETA to keep it hush-hush. It seems like they may have feared a backlash from their fans if word got out. Oops. But I guess they felt saying they were ashamed to be from the same state as President Bush was going to be just fine. Not a whole lot of IQ points between the three of them apparently. I bet the one they kicked out is kind of glad now.
How much gall do you have to possess to compare the plight of the Jews during the Holocaust to the common chicken? I mean there is a huge difference. Chickens and cows are slaughtered for food. Hitler slaughtered the Jews because he hated them and felt they should be eradicated off the face of the earth.
This new PETA campaign shows a picture of prisoners in a concentration camp beside a picture of chickens in pens with the caption “To animals all people are Nazis”. The phrase is a quote from the late Nobel Prize-winning author Isaac Bashevis Singer. As they say around here. I ain’t never heard of him neither. Anyway, Mr. Singer was a vegetarian. But to quote the CNN article…
The Singer quote, which the group draws upon in its literature as well, was not spoken directly by him but rather comes from his novel “Enemies: A Love Story,” when the main character muses on the plight of animals. Singer was a vegetarian who believed strongly in animal rights.
This is typical PETA procedure. “Hey, let?s misquote a dead vegetarian author because he’s not around to disagree with us”.
This comes right on the heels of one of PETA’s top dogs (pun intended) writing a letter to Yasser Arafat protesting the use of mules to deliver suicide bombs to kill Israeli’s because its cruel and insensitive to the mule, never mind all the Israeli’s and Palestinians being blown up.
Because of these issues, some people may assume that PETA is anti-Semitic. Maybe PETA really stands for People Enforcing Tyrannical Anti-Semitism.
Basically, what this comes down to is PETA is suing Bank of America for false advertisement. BofA says on a grant application on its website that it doesn’t donate money to national health organizations. But BofA is a huge supporter for the March of Dimes. March of Dimes has done medical research on test animals. So PETA is trying to get to March of Dimes through BofA. According to the March of Dimes, 95% of animal testing that they do are on rats, mice, worms, and fruit flies. In other words…vermin. So I guess PETA thinks that rats and worms are more important than babies being born without birth defects.
I love animals. I really do. But I saw a comedian on TV who put it best. If hooking up a monkey’s brain to a car battery means curing cancer I only have two things to say. Red is positive and black is negative.
