Russian school shooting was just a Columbine copycat

Russian school shooter was just a Columbine copycat

Mikhail Pivnev

This past week, there was a school shooting in the Russian town of Ivanteyevka near Moscow. 15-year-old Mikhail Pivnev entered his classroom at School No. 1, struck his teacher in the head with a meat cleaver, shot her in the head with a pneumatic gun, and set off smoke bombs in the classroom. The teacher is expected to survive her injuries, but several students were injured trying to flee the area. Some of the students’ injuries included broken bones after they jumped from windows in order to escape.

There have been varying reports about how the attack started. Some reports say Pivenv attacked the teacher after she reprimanded him for being late. Other reports state that Pivnev announced that ‘he came here to die’ before attacking the teacher.

What’s not in dispute is Pivnev was nothing more than a Columbine fanboy, a columbiner if you will. His social media accounts were full of references and tributes to Columbine. According to most reports, Pivnev posted the following on the anniversary of Columbine.

‘On April 20, 1999 was the attack on the Columbine school.

‘If not to go into details, then as a result, 13 pupils died, 23 were injured and two are alive in my heart.

‘Here and again the same day….. No matter what happens around me, how they treat me, I wonder if I’m needed here …

‘Life is beautiful, friends, but sometimes death is better. And it could be better if I was in the place of Eric and Dylan …

He was even said to have used the name of Mikhail Klebold on his social media accounts. Let’s not forget Pivnev was born in 2002, meaning he wasn’t even close to being alive when Columbine happened. Why should that matter? In my opinion if you weren’t alive during a certain event, you really can’t appreciate the impact it had at the time. For example, I don’t have as much knowledge of how much Pearl Harbor or the JFK assassination affected the country since I wasn’t born yet. Yet I am very aware of how tragedies like Columbine and 9/11 have affected us.

Well, since he emulated the Columbine killers he must have been bullied right? Nope. Not only is there no evidence to indicate the Columbine cowards of Harris and Klebold were bullied, authorities are saying that Pivnev planned his attack because he was annoyed that his classmates offended him. If that is the case, like most cowardly school shooters, he attacked someone who had nothing to do with him being ‘offended’. Just another petty kid who thought he was better than everyone else who couldn’t solve his own social inadequacies without resorting to violence.

Another recurring theme that has presented itself during this story is that Pivnev would tell everyone about his plot and no one believed him. Normally, I would admonish anyone who had the ‘it can’t happen here’ mentality, however, this is only the second school shooting in modern Russian history. In 2014, student Sergei Gordeyev shot and killed geography teacher Andrei Kirillov and a police officer at School No. 263 in Moscow.

What’s most unbelievable to me is Pivnev planned this attack for three years. That means he started planning this attack since he was 12-years-old. I don’t know what the state of mental healthcare is in Russia, but if your kids are sitting around their computer (tablet, phone, what have you) watching Columbine videos then they are in desperate need of help.

Lastly, of course when one of these so-called tough guys is captured and has his day in court his attitude changes immensely.

Earlier, the attorney said that the teenager repents all what he had done and apologized to victims.

Three years of planning and hate then all of a sudden when he’s in cuffs he’s suddenly repentant. Like most school shooting copycats, he’s just another coward who cries like a baby when faced with the consequences of their actions.

Woman returns adopted son to Russia

Mom sends adopted boy back to Russia with note: I no longer wish to parent this child:

One more reason why I think people should adopt from this country before going overseas. Apologies to my overseas readers. I am not trying to be jingoistic however we have plenty of children in the US that need good homes.

Torry-Ann Hansen of Tennessee adopted a 7-year-old boy from Russia. Apparently she felt that he wasn’t worthy enough to be in her presence as she set him on a plane back to Russia with a note that said…

“He is violent and has severe psychopathic issues/behaviors,” she wrote. “After giving my best to this child, I am sorry to say that for the safety of my family, friends and myself, I no longer wish to parent this child.”

A child, especially an adopted one, is not something you can return like a cell phone you don’t like because it’s the wrong color.

The Russian government says that after this adoptions from the US may be reduced. Can you blame them. As a society have we become so selfish that we return adopted children just because they cramp your life?

Thanks to Marcy for the tip.
