Libya vs. Iraq

I’m seriously not trying to be a smartass here. I have a serious question.

Why is the UN so eager to authorize military action against Libya yet refused to lift a finger about Iraq? I think that what Gadaffi is doing to his own people, while still brutal, pales in comparison to what Saddam Hussein did to his own people.

So what is the difference?

7/1/04 News from TheTrench

We got an assload of news today so let’s get to it.

Defiant Saddam rejects court, charges:

I love these quotes…

When he was ushered into the court, the judge asked him his name and twice he said, “I am Saddam Hussein, the president of Iraq.”

Saddam challenged the judge on the invasion of Kuwait, saying: “How could you say that? I did that for the Iraqi people … how could you defend these dogs,” he said, referring to the Kuwaitis.

“This is all a theater” designed by President Bush, whom he called a criminal, to win re-election, said Saddam, looking around the court with a half-smile during one outburst.

“I’m elected by the people of Iraq. The occupation cannot take that right away from me,” he said.

Wow, who knew that Saddam Hussein was a member of

‘Fahrenheit’ Web leaks add fuel to controversy:

This is classic. is offering a link to a free downloadable version of Fahrenheit 9/11 by using Michael Moore’s own words against him…

“I don’t agree with the copyright laws, and I don’t have a problem with people downloading the movie and sharing it with people. As long as they’re not doing it to make a profit, you know, as long as they’re not trying to make a profit off my labor. I would oppose that.”

This one will be fun to watch but I’m sure the king of all assclowns himself will be changing his tune very soon. For more from MW on this subject click here and here.

Private Property May Become Preserved:

A law in King County, Washington is being considered where landowners will only be allowed to build on 10% of their own land

Known as the 65-10 Rule (search), it calls for landowners to set aside 65 percent of their property and keep it in its natural, vegetative state. According to the rule, nothing can be built on this land, and if a tree is cut down, for example, it must be replanted. Building anything is out of the question.

I guess Hillary Clinton wasn’t kidding when she said “We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.” This is idiotic. The King County government is basically telling you that the land you own isn’t really the land you own. That will really get commerce and private citizens to move to your county.

“We’re trying to keep the rural area a place that isn’t just McMansions and ball courts, but instead has those natural processes,” said Tim Trohimovich of the group 1000 Friends of Washington, which aims to promote healthy communities and cities while protecting farmland and forests.

Hey kids, another environmental group that wants to force you to bend to their will. Also the plan is backed by King County Executive Ron Sims who is running for governor as a Democrat. Go figure. The party that is all about freedom of choice, for trees and animals but not for people. I’ll have to come up with a communistic name for Washington like I’ve done with California and Oregonistan. Any suggestions?

Firing back at the Mouse (second item):

King of all assclowns Michael Moore has his colossal colon in a bunch because Disney passed on distributing F9/11 but is now distributing a movie that’s pro-American called “America’s Heart & Soul”. First of all, Disney is a private business and they can choose whatever movie they want to distribute. Secondly, Disney has a history of being pro-American. Walt himself wouldn’t even let Kruschev into Disneyland. Last of all, just another example of how most of the radical left is all about free speech unless it’s something they disagree with.

This is a great review of the King of All Assclowns latest movie by a conservative journalist. My favorite quote from the article is the very last one…

It’s time to update the testimonial ads in support of the movie. I’m thinking: “Five stars” says Bin Laden, or “A must see” proclaims Al Zarqawi, and “Don’t miss it” from Arafat.

Al-Qaeda spells out Iraq attack strategy in handbook: report:

Why is this not being presented in the news more? Check out this quote…

“If these (Spanish) forces remain after the strikes, the victory of the socialist party would be near-guaranteed and the pullout of Spanish forces from Iraq would be on its agenda,” said the document, distributed ahead of the March 11 attacks in Madrid.

Hey, Spanish Socialist Party, way to be played like a maraca. Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is now officially al-Qaeda’s bitch.

And finally…

Fahrenheit 9/11 to become first imported documentary in China:

The headline says it all, doesn’t it? Michael Moore is probably ecstatic that his film will play to his fellow communists. Better dead than red Mikey.

Saddam Must Die

Let Saddam Live:

You’ve got to be kidding me. I am not familiar with Richard Cohen’s work but he obviously is a card-carrying member of the League of Assclowns. To actually suggest that Saddam Hussein should not be executed is just assclownery at its worst. Who knows how many people he has put to death but let’s give him his own room with heat and meals and all the comforts of home. Hell, that’s more than a lot of American citizens have. I don’t think so, Dick. Hussein deserves to die. Slowly. Painfully.

Saddam Hussein Captured.

I’m not officially back yet but even something of this magnitude will bring me out of my spider hole.

Saddam Captured ‘Like a Rat’ in Raid:

This is a great day indeed. I’m really curious to see how the protesters will spin this one. Probably they’ll harp on about how weapons of mass destruction still haven’t been found. I beg to differ. Saddam Hussein has ordered the deaths of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of his own people. He is a weapon of mass destruction. Or rather, he was. My respect and admiration go out to the men and women of the US Armed Forces.

I quit

Rallies in Europe, Asia on Day of Protest Against Iraq War:

I give up. No. Really. I’m sick of this. I guess the world has spoken. They want to leave Saddam Hussein in power. I say fine, leave him there. If the world wants to leave the Hitler of the Middle East in power then I say fine. Let them deal with the consequences. When Iraq starts invading other countries again and starts committing unspeakable acts against its own citizens or the citizens of other countries the US should just sit back and say..”Oh well, we warned you but you wouldn’t listen to us. Deal with it on your own.” Let the blood be on your hands.

Baghdad Sean

Sean Penn says war in Iraq is avoidable:

It looks like we have our new Hanoi Jane. Actor Sean Penn traveled to Iraq to see if a war in Iraq could be avoided. It must be nice to be a spoiled star and be able to indulge your every whim on a moment’s notice. Yes, a war in Iraq can be avoided and I didn’t have to travel to Iraq to figure it out. If Saddam Hussein disarms his country and steps down then war can be avoided. And a personal note to Sean Penn. You’re not the great actor/producer/activist you think you are. You will always be best remembered as Spicoli. Your fat brother is a better actor than you are.
