Utah teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with 17-year-old student

Utah teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with 17-year-old student

Aaron Karl Esplin

(Story broke 4/21/2017)

40-year-old Aaron Karl Esplin, of Hurricane, Utah, is, or was, a high school teacher. He’s accused of allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student of his. Considering this is a teacher we’re talking about, you know that Snapchat is involved. Esplin is believed to have requested nude pictures of the girl through the picture sharing app.

The age of consent for women is 16-years-old, however, the law also states that anyone under 18 can not consent to a relationship with anyone who is ten years or more older. That’s all moot though since Esplin was said to be in possession of explicit pictures of the girl, which is legally considered child porn.

This shows that social media can be used by sketchy teachers like this to circumvent parents and have direct access to your children. I may be an old man yelling at a cloud, but I think it’s inappropriate for teachers to have any kind of communication with students that’s not through their parents or properly authorized school channels.

Snapchat sleaze who lured girl from Sydney to New York blames victim

Snapchat sleaze who lured girl from Sydney to New York blames victim

Sean Price

I originally posted about Sean Price here. He’s the man from Queens, New York, who is accused of luring a 16-year-old girl from Sydney, Australia to Queens, New York, through Snapchat. Unsurprisingly, Price is now trying to blame the victim for his predicament.

From jail in New York, Price reportedly called the Daily Mail Australia to try to tell his side of the story, his side being the ‘I didn’t know she was 16’ defense. Price tells the Daily Mail…

‘First of all, she told me she was 22 – and I made my choice. Do you ask a girl for ID if she looks young? No,’ Price said.

‘If I figured she was that young I wouldn’t have met her.’

Right. So in the entire time you were chatting with her, through the time you bought the airline ticket, up until the time she was discovered in your mom’s basement, you’re going to tell me that you never knew her age? So why then did you allegedly have your mother tell police that neither you nor the girl were there? You are said to have driven her from L.A. to New York and you’re going to tell me the subject of her age never came up? Plus, didn’t you have to know her date of birth in order to purchase the ticket from Sydney to L.A.?

As an aside, in my previous post I wondered where the case would be prosecuted. From the Daily Mail article, it seems to indicate he will be prosecuted in the US, but could be further prosecuted in Australia. This will be an interesting one to watch.

Mass. man accused of raping girl he met through Omegle

Mass. man accused of raping girl he met through Omegle

Raymond Phelps

(Story broke 4/13/2017)

25-year-old Raymond Phelps, of Bernardston, Massachusetts, is accused of allegedly having sex (e.g. child rape) with a 14-year-old-girl he met through the website Omegle. For those of you unfamiliar with Omegle, it’s a website that pairs you with random people and allows you to cam-chat with them. This being the internet, it’s been abused by numerous predators and child porn collectors since it’s frequented by teens.

The incident happened back in February when Phelps is said to have taken the girl to a movie where he started inappropriately touching the girl. Then the two are said to have ‘had sex’ later in Phelps’ truck. While the victim says the sex was consensual she also reportedly told police that Phelps knew her age. Meanwhile, Phelps is using the “I didn’t know she was 14” defense.

Personally, I don’t feel like Omegle gets enough attention from law enforcement. While there’s not as many stories about it in the news like Kik, it’s still the most popular search term used to find my site. Those search terms are usually something like “Can I get arrested from using Omegle?”, which leads me to believe that more people are using it for nefarious reasons than people believe.

Let’s also not forget that Omegle is a website, not an app. It can be used by any device that has a camera and a web browser.

Snapchat sleaze accused of luring girl from Sydney to New York

Snapchat sleaze accused of luring girl from Sydney to New York

I’ve posted stories before about predators who have lured girls from across the country. I’ve posted stories before about how predators have lured girls from one country to another, usually from Canada to the US. To my recollection this is the first time I’ve ever posted a story about an alleged predator who lured a girl from another hemisphere.

39-year-old Sean Price, of Queens, New York, is accused of luring a 16-year-old girl, who he met on Snapchat, from Sydney, Australia, to his home on Queens. Price allegedly sent the girl $1500 USD in order for her to fly from Sydney to L.A. Price is said to have met the girl in L.A., then the pair drove from L.A. to New York. They are said to have ‘had sex’ in multiple states during their coast to coast road trip. Depending on the state, the ‘had sex’ may actually be ‘child rape’.

The NYPD received a tip from Australian authorities and tracked down Price at the home he shared with his mother. At first, even his own mother covered for him, stating that he wasn’t home but police eventually found him and his victim in the basement. That’s right, they found a shifty online creep who couldn’t get women his own age in mom’s basement.

A flight from Sydney to L.A. is 7500 miles and takes 15 hours. To then drive from L.A. to Queens is 2800 miles and takes around 3-4 days if you drive for 12 hours a day. This jackhole took this girl from her home and family with the most obsessive depravity I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. If there’s some online sexual predator book of records this scumbag definitely wins the award for most miles lured.

It will be interesting to see where Mr. Pedophile Travel Agent will be prosecuted.

Mich. man makes 1300 mile trip to sexually assault Texas girl he met through Tumblr

Mich. man makes 1300 mile trip to sexually assault Texas girl he met through Tumblr

Christopher David Galliway

Tumblr is the ultra-popular blogging site among young people. It’s where they make their angsty posts about how they’re offended by everything, how Trump is Hitler, and where all sorts of people are told to check their privilege. Since it is so popular among teens, it’s not uncommon for a child predator to use Tumblr to their advantage. For us internet olds, Tumblr is the heir apparent to LiveJournal.

For example, take 23-year-old Christopher David Galliway, of Fenton, Michigan. Mr. Young Combover made the 1,300 mile and 20 hour trip from his home in Felton, to College Station, Texas, where he allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old girl he had met through Tumblr. Don’t forget kids, around here we call having sex with minors child rape, and since I know you’re wondering, the age of consent in Texas is 17.

One of the features Tumblr has that parents need to be aware of is its instant messaging feature. That’s right, you have yet another messaging app to be on the lookout for. That’s not even accounting that Tumblr in itself is a very sexually charged platform. Not only is there tons of porn on Tumblr, both professional and homemade, it’s also been used in the past among child porn traders. On the Google Play Store the app is rated as Mature, which is the equivalent of an R rating for apps.

If your children are on Tumblr, there is a ton of questionable content they can be exposed to that’s probably not healthy for them. It would be worth your while not only to check out your kid’s Tumblr, but to see who they’re following as well. You never know when one of them may show up at your doorstep while you’re not home and your child is.

Kik kreeper convinces girl to run away from California to Texas

Ash Morgan Arthur

32-year-old Ash Morgan Arthur, of Harris County, Texas, was recently arrested when it was found that he allegedly had a 15-year-old girl living in his house. Arthur is accused of meeting the California girl on the mobile messaging app Kik before convincing the girl to run away from Woodland, California to Texas.

Click here for more stories about Kik

I’m extremely curious as to how the girl got to Texas from California considering it’s a trip that’s almost 2,000 miles by car. Did he buy her a plane ticket, or more likely a bus ticket? Did he make the 4,000 mile round trip from Texas to California and back again to pick her up from her home? It’s not unheard of for online predators to go to such lengths to procure their victims.

Of course it was determined that Arthur was ‘having sex’ with the girl, or as it should be called, child rape. This should come as no surprise, considering Kik is rampant with sex offenders and pedophiles. Again, because this app is so popular among teens, and even pre-teens, it’s become a veritable hunting ground for predators. If this app is on your child’s phone, you should be concerned with whom they might be talking to. You may trust your child, but do you trust the stranger on the other end? You shouldn’t.

Phoenix Facebook fiend sexually assaults girl half his age

Phoenix Facebook fiend sexually assaults girl half his age

Felix Joel Perez Fong

29-year-old Felix Joel Perez Fong, of Phoenix, Arizona, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl that he was friends with on Facebook. He is said to have met the victim at a family party before continuing to talk to the girl on Facebook where they exchanged explicit pictures. Reports say that Fong repeatedly mentioned that he knew the girl was half his age. So let’s assume that the victim was either 14 or 15, that’s still under the legal age of consent. Apparently the age difference wasn’t large enough to stop Fong from picking the girl up from school so they could have sex, or as it should be called child rape.

There’s nothing that’s not creepy about this story, from meeting the girl at a family party to picking the girl up at school for sex. If you’re not careful, this is who could be talking to your kids on Facebook. While kids are more likely to be abused by someone they know, like a friend of the family, doesn’t mean predators won’t use electronic means such as Facebook to groom their victims.

Texas Teacher blackmailed by student she was having sex with

Texas Teacher blackmailed by student she was having sex with

Sandy Doan

27-year-old Sandy Doan of Dallas, Texas, has allegedly fallen into the same pitfalls of too many teachers these days. She started communicating with one of her middle school students over Instagram and Kik (no Snapchat?) before starting a sexual relationship with the student. Normally I would be throwing sarcastic quotes around about ‘having sex’ and ‘relationship’, but it’s hard to call the kid a victim in this instance.

Instead of just the usual bragging to his friends, this kid had the criminal wherewithal to allegedly blackmail Doan into giving him thousands of dollars for his silence.

“Anit [expletive] watch ima start getting the pics and everything ready … to show the cops right I anit playing,” the messages read, according to police.

Doan, also known as Thao Doan, wasn’t arrested until the kid’s mother found out that her son was receiving large amounts of money from Doan. The kid’s mother also said that he has a lengthy juvenile criminal record. However, police sources say that the then 14-year-old blackmailer will probably not face any charges. Why in the blue hell not?

While Sandy Doan is allegedly ultimately responsible for landing herself in the situation in the first place, the extortion of $28,000 is not something that should just be chalked up to boys being boys. To not charge him shows other kids in his community that crime does pay.

Snapchat sleaze posed as teen to get girl to his home

Christopher Dean Martin

33-year-old Christopher Dean Martin of Roseville, California, has been arrested on charges of ‘having sex’ (child rape) with a 16-year-old girl. Martin allegedly posed as an 18-year-old on the mobile image sharing app Snapchat in order to convince a 16-year-old to come to his house for sex. Is it me or does this guy look nothing like an 18-year-old? As a matter of fact he looks older than 33.

snapchat-logo

Speaking of age, because I know some of you will try to argue this point, the age of consent in California is 18 and they’re pretty serious about it. According to Wikipedia, no one may have sexual contact with anyone under 18.

Police believe he may have other victims

Investigators believe Martin may have tried to lure other young girls around the Sacramento area. Anyone who suspects their child may have been a victim is asked to contact detectives at kquartarolo@roseville.ca.us.

As usual the same cautions apply, learn to use these apps, know who your kids’ online friends are, and hold on to their devices at night. If not, you may find your child in the home of a 33-year-old pervert.

Snapchat sleaze caught in 15-year-old girl’s bedroom

Snapchat sleaze caught in 15-year-old girl's bedroom

Austin Prewitt

21-year-old Austin Prewitt of London, Kentucky, was recently arrested on third-degree rape charges when he was allegedly found in the bedroom of a 15-year-old girl. Before you even ask, the age of consent in Kentucky is 16, and the age gap between Prewitt and his victim is too large to be considered under the wrongly named Romeo and Juliet clause of the law.

Prewitt was said to have groomed the girl over the mobile image sharing app Snapchat. The victim’s father found the pair together in the girl’s bedroom and Prewitt reportedly fled. When police finally located Prewitt, he was said to be in possession of a stolen gun inside of his truck.

snapchat-logo

Think about that for a moment. A father finds some guy on top of his daughter who was in possession of a stolen gun. This could have quickly gone sideways in so many ways, we could have been talking about a murder instead.

If you’re allowing your kids to use any of these apps like Snapchat without any kind of supervision, you could be surprised one night by finding a stranger in their bedroom. Not only should you learn how to use these apps, but you should consider holding on to your kids’ devices at night for safe keeping. While neither of these actions are a perfect solution, they can go a long way in protecting your kids.
